Here I Stand on the Precipice of Life

Here I stand on the precipice of life.
At the edge of the cliff I peer down into the murky darkness.
I look behind me at the road I have traveled on.
It is full of treacherous mounds and valleys.
Traps ready to snare me if I dare backtrack.

So here I stand not knowing where to turn or what to do.
Standing on the edge of this cliff.
I know I have no choice but to jump, for I can’t go back.
I don’t want to go back and experience those horrors again.

Here I stand.
Waiting.
Waiting for you.
Waiting for you to push me.
Waiting for you to take my hand and jump with me.
Waiting for your wings to fly with my wings which are just learning to flap.

Here I fly.
Here I soar.
With you beside me.
We look at each other in amazement at the wonders we see.
We take turns leading in flight.
Every time my wings tire and feet long for the old familiar cliff top, you lift me up and we soar once more.

Thank you for your strength. For your wings.
For your guiding light when the sky became cloudy and dark.
If not for you I would still be on that cliff edge, withering and wondering.
Still wondering….
