A Divine Feminine Perspective

Back in 2004, a story poured through my heart, creating a heartwarming spiritual novel called, God for President: A Parable about the Power of Love (Conari Press, 2008). Disheartened by our country’s quick movement to war and our response to terror with more terror, I wondered how a God of Love would respond to world matters and dabbled in a mock campaign for God’s candidacy. When a friend suggested I turn the idea into a story in which God actually comes to Earth and enters the race, I was intrigued and began a journey into the realm of the Divine Feminine.

I knew that the kind of Love the human race needed would come from the feminine aspect of our nature and that She would show us the way to shift our planet. I opened myself up to Her guidance and the magic unfolded into a poignant story about a mysterious woman who runs for president in the name of Love! Each day, I would awaken and run to my computer to see what this magical character named Mary Love would do next. As a third-party candidate, she challenged the status quo and demonstrated what it meant to live from Love instead of Fear, a concept we need today as we face pivotal choices in the 2016 election.

As the phenomenon of terrorism is on the rise again, it might be wise to consider its correlation to our world’s fear-based reality. Here are a few words of wisdom from one of Mary Love’s campaign speeches:

“Could it be that all of our choices work together to create what we see in the world? Because we live in a circle, we affect the terrorist, and he us. So, before we strike back at anyone, I invite us to consider the consequences and look deeper into these matters. For, in our reactionary mode, we simply create more suffering for all.

“Everyone longs for freedom. It’s all in one’s perspective. One person’s terrorist might be another’s freedom fighter. Could it be that terrorists hate the dark side of America’s freedom, the side that thinks it can do whatever it desires in the world without question? I invite you to consider the implications of a society that uses money as its primary motivation. Could the larger considerations of people and planet get lost?”

“These men are not our enemies; they are our brothers. Fear is our enemy, because fear separates us. Fear strikes back. And when it does, nothing new can grow except more pain. On the other hand, love unites. Love offers compassion by walking in another person’s pain and getting to the root cause of it. The real bottom line is — we need more love. Let’s give another what we most wish to receive. Cultivate compassion for hearts that cry out. Know another’s pain as our pain. Remember the circle and that we are all breathing the same breath, that what we do to others always comes back to us.

“Love is about acknowledging what is, not deciding if it’s right or wrong. The moment you allow reality, you will know peace. Then, from that space, you can look at the real questions. What needs to be understood or discussed? Who needs help? What is their pain? What might we be doing to influence their suffering? What can I do to help stop it?”

As Mary purports, Love is the strongest force in our universe, yet we allow Fear to have far more influence. But once we become conscious to Fear, we can choose Love. As we increasingly opt for Love, our experience of life and relationships will be much easier and more joyful.

Fear lives in our mind as a discomforting voice, a voice that makes us feel bad. We continue to be duped by Fear because it is familiar and plays off our smallest, most insignificant sense of self, i.e. our ego. Fear knows only the polarity of right and wrong, yet the right and wrong paradigm creates a duality in which we are constantly at battle.

Love lives in our heart as a comforting voice, a voice that feels good. Love knows only the convergence of all that is, proclaiming we are accepted no matter what. Love allows and creates unity so we can come together and find peace in ourselves and our world. All we need to do is rise above Fear and listen to the message Love plants in our hearts.
