Mediums Lisa Williams, John Holland and Colette Baron-Reid

Three of the world’s top spiritual mediums will come together in Chicago for a mystical evening — at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 9 — where messages from Spirit will be revealed. John Holland, Colette Baron-Reid and Lisa Williams will demonstrate their amazing abilities to communicate with the spirit world at Celebrate Your Life in Chicago.  Each medium will take time to do audience readings and discuss their journey in spirit world communication.

John Holland is an internationally renowned psychic medium, spiritual teacher, author and radio host. His public demonstrations provide audiences with a rare glimpse into the fascinating subject of mediumship, which he delivers in his own unique style, explaining the delicate process of raising his own vibrational energy to link with the Other Side and deliver messages. He is the author of numerous bestsellers, the latest of which is Bridging Two Realms.

Colette Baron-Reid is an internationally acclaimed psychic medium celebrated by clients across the globe, who fondly refer to her as “The Oracle.” She is a bestselling author in 27 languages, and the star of the hit TV series, “Messages from Spirit” (VisionTV).

Lisa Williams is a world-renowned medium and clairvoyant with an amazing ability to communicate with those who have passed on to the other side and bring hope to her fans. She hosted her own hit show, “Lisa Williams: Life Among the Dead,” launched the Lisa Williams International School of Spiritual Development and is an accomplished author of books on mediumship and spirituality, including her latest, Was That A Sign From Heaven?

The three mediums answered several questions for The Edge readership in advance of their appearance in Chicago.

How do you know that the messages you are receiving are from energies outside of yourself or from the dearly departed and not just from your mind?
Colette Baron-Reid: That’s actually not difficult to answer. I was very skeptical myself in the beginning and it took me 20 years to actually call myself a medium. But after a while you learn how to decipher what is yours, which is about what is known, and what you tune into that is unknown.

The information I receive feels like a memory but slightly to the side of my conscious mind. I know it’s not mine because I can’t possibly have these memories or access to the story details I am receiving, since it’s about someone completely unfamiliar to me. The evidence is given to the person, who then validates it. The interesting thing is that the mind is still an active component to it. The mind is like a radio that tunes into the information. The distinction is your personal self, or connecting to a self that still exits in the consciousness of the Universe.

John Holland: I know I am receiving information from outside myself because of the two decades of doing this work as a medium. I was trained years ago to follow the approach of: less of me and more of Spirit. You learn after a while to step aside, put you and all your stuff to one side until the demonstration or reading is done. I also teach my students that when they are receiving information, whether it’s words, feelings or images, to ask themselves: “Is this coming to me or from me?” Just by asking yourself that question will help you to discern the answer.

Lisa Williams: Naturally, there is always a question of whether your mind is in overdrive, especially when you are just starting to develop your gift. However, with more and more experience you get used to the subtle changes of energy.  For me, I have a strong distinction between my mind and spirit. To me they are characters and their personalities still exist, so I know that these are not my imagination, especially when I “see” someone I don’t recognize, so I make them my new best friend and find out all about them. It’s beautiful to experience all that they have to offer.

What overarching message is Spirit giving you to share with us now about this global transformation we are all experiencing and how to navigate the turmoil that is churning in and around us?
John Holland: I believe that something has changed dramatically in the past few years. I’ve noticed there’s an inner shift occurring within people — even though the masses don’t understand why. Metaphysical and esoteric subjects have always fascinated people, but now there’s an even more noticeable wave of interest that’s occurring. It’s not just that there’s a general heightened interest in spirituality, psychic subjects and the afterlife, but there’s an extraordinary heightened awareness in the consciousness of humankind taking place around the world.

So, what’s happening exactly in society? Could it be that we’re still questioning the nature of our own existence and our own spirituality is coming to the forefront in our lives? Is the spiritual energy within humankind quickening and evolving? In my opinion, there is, in fact, a dramatic shift in our consciousness that’s occurring. I feel we are becoming more psychically sensitive to the world around us, as well as with each other. We’re all connected, and we, as a race, are somehow “spiritually awakening.”

Because there is a lot going on in the world — some is good, some of it negative — I recommend people learn the mechanics of their own psychic self: chakras, aura, breath, meditation, etc. When you know how your own equipment works – you are in control of it. Outside stimuli can be turned up, turned down or turned off when needed. It also works both ways: when you understand your own unique spiritual ability, you can send it out to the world and Universe.

Colette Baron-Reid: The message that I consistently tune into is to be 100 percent accountable for your thoughts feelings and beliefs. Clean up the past, release yourself from the conditioning of the past, commit to healing and don’t buy into the media circus that is hypnotizing everyone into feeling unsafe. If we are in fear, we are malleable and easily manipulated. See the Universe as connected, abundant and in partnership with all of us. Love is the only answer.

Lisa Williams: As a trance channel of spirit, I have to come back to the words that they have given me to answer this question. The one thing that is apparent in all my work is coming back to a simple life without ego, but with love of self and others.

The challenges that society has are immeasurable, but it’s the pressure that others put on themselves to be seen and heard that is the dying age of society as a whole.

What will happen to the simple life, the life that is not consumed by media, lights and everything that is around you made to be big? It feeds the ego, but what happened to the soul, the soul of understanding, compassion and love? What happened to the caring world in which you live where others helped others out, unconditionally?

There is a world of conditions and ego, of truth but led by lies, and a world of big, but it is small. It’s such a contradiction of sorts and a world that is needing — so much so that you have forgotten the path. Let go of what you feel is real as it’s the fake life that you believe. It’s the fake smiles and the fake warmth. Be real and live in the love and peace that is needed in the world for you to grow. The growth is all that you need and the light of the eyes of the souls that are being born will lead the way into the future of tomorrow. It’s time to live and to be real, let go of the fake and be the truth that you want to be.

Believe in the dream and remember to be simple, for simple is real — and real is the way.
