Meaningful Day Trips I’ve Taken

combs

My number one experience that immediately jumps off the map at me is my trip to Cahokia Mounds in Collinsville, IL. Even though I live in Kansas City, MO., and it was quite a drive, the experience was more than well worth it. I love to drive so that in itself was fun. Walking the grounds of what is a sacred site to the Native Americans who lived and died there is an unforgettable experience. I could so feel the reverence and the beauty there. Knowing the story underneath what almost happened … [Read more...]

Who Are We Really? My Unitive Perspective

abstract_light2

I so love being out on the edge of consciousness and speaking to the holistic Truths that mean the world to me. With all the violence going on in the world, I am called out again to clearly define a word that is so misunderstood. In the New Thought movement, which I so greatly love, I often hear the statement, "Let go of your ego." That is a dangerously misleading statement. It implies that the totality of our ego is negative and fear-based. It is nothing of the sort! Ego is the emotional, … [Read more...]

A Brand New Day

sunrise_blue

Featured Topic: Techniques to Relieve Stress It's a brand new day! Not because we made it past December 21, 2012. Not due to anything going on in the outer. It's a brand new day because we know that Truth from the inside out. This is a principle I've known all my life. It's a Truth that is becoming more and more experientially embodied for me each and every day, because it's a Truth I live each and every moment. It's fun and it's amazing and it's empowering!   This Truth works the same way … [Read more...]

My Unexpected Awakening

abstract_light

Life is so fascinating. A few months ago I was fired from a bizarrely stressful job. I had been putting money aside the whole time I was there, not having any clue that this would happen. The hilarious synchronicity is that I was fired on the very day Mercury went retrograde. When I realized that timing I couldn't stop laughing. Mercury retrograde symbolizes a time to stop, reconsider and contemplate. Another irony is the timing of getting fired. It happened when my savings were at their … [Read more...]

My Spiritual Awakening

writing

The question that has been uppermost in my heart and mind lately is, "How does it happen that I knew as a 9 year old that I am innately good?" The almost indescribable difference this awareness has made in my life is most definitely palpable. I came into this life with an indomitable will. My understanding that nothing is in my way is a huge spiritual gift. My understanding is that, "All things work together for good. All things work together to bless me." My understanding lately is that … [Read more...]

Complementary Therapies: Honoring The Power Within

I love the concept and practice of the complementary therapies. They honor the true nature of healing recognizing the Creative Intelligence inherent in the body-mind-Spirit continuum. There cannot be lasting healing without recognizing this inherent connection. Healing isn't a matter of "defeat the enemy." Healing is a matter of recognizing the inherent alignment with Spirit that well-being is! We are Spirit made manifest. Complementary therapies recognize this Truth. It seems odd to … [Read more...]

Prosperity: Living The Unqualified Yes!

My definition of prosperity is the wide open, heart-centered "yes" to life! To live the unqualified yes, I have to be visible enough so that the universe can "find me." That means I have to be conscious enough to say "yes" to the magnanimity that's already here, to the expansiveness that is the very nature of the universe. My job - and our collective job - is to align ourselves with the magnificence that's always been here - with the magnificence we are!My … [Read more...]

Forgiveness Brings Prosperity

My spiritual lesson of the year is: forgiveness brings prosperity! This lesson is highlighted in The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity, a book by Unity minister, Rev. Edwene Gaines. I am currently reading her book for the sixth time, and this won't be the last time. I recently shared principles from Rev. Gaines' book at my home church. Incorporating four spiritual laws outlined in the book into my daily life has transformed my life beyond anything I could imagine. The book emphasizes that … [Read more...]

A 21st Century Perspective

Half full or half empty? Which is it? When things don't go "my way," do I feel that something valuable has been taken away or has the path been cleared for success to unfold? What a difference perspective makes. I choose to believe the path is clear. From the quantum physics perspective, I see the universe as a beneficent process guided by an intrinsic intelligent order. Every atom and particle of life is animated by this intelligent order. As an artist and scientist, this view … [Read more...]

Engaging Our Spirituality: Taking Leaps Of Faith

Any adventure is always a leap of faith. Engaging our spirituality is our faith-filled adventure into life. With fullness and enthusiasm, we have an idea. The idea takes more form as a vision, and step-by-step our idea becomes manifest as a full-blown vision of our original intention. This whole process is so very special and so very important to me in making a personal impact on life. We have so severely underestimated our human potential. We have lived in a 5,000-year era dominated by fear and … [Read more...]

De-stress Or Distress? It’s In The Thinking!

We're entering the hottest time of the year. The physical heat can accentuate the emotional heat we're feeling. That is commonly known. The murder rate always explodes in the summer months. What can we meaningfully do to help ourselves? For one, we can become conscious of the thoughts we're thinking about ourselves and others. The importance of this one process cannot be stressed enough. Our whole worldview turns on what we think of ourselves and others. Do we see ourselves as friend or enemy? … [Read more...]

Living In The Flow Of Generosity

Here we are in May, a perfect time to witness Mother Nature's awesome flowering. Her prolific beauty is a stunning example of why sustainable living and renewable energy usage is so very important. Being able to witness the beauty of Mother Nature is just one of many reasons why sustainable living and renewable energy usage is so very important to me.I do all of what I consider to be the ordinary things to conserve energy and live sustainably. I buy organic foods. I recycle everything possible. … [Read more...]

My most meaningful travel experience

Special to Edgelife.netI have had so many meaningful travel experiences in my life. My travel experiences always have two central themes in common. They always highlight the awesome beauty of Mother Nature, and they illuminate the story and the spirituality of the people who lived there before my arrival on this planet. One such experience was a trip to Cahokia Mounds in 2001. I had heard that this place was amazing, but I had no idea how amazing it was until I got there. I made the trip at a … [Read more...]

Physician Heal Thyself

"Physician heal thyself" perfectly expresses my feelings toward the role of alternative, complementary health care today. What I love about these health-care systems is that they all express and honor the vitalizing body-mind-spirit interconnectedness. They are heart-connected systems. For me, these health-centered alternative systems express the basic difference between love and fear. These systems express the value that there is an infinite variety of ways to heal ourselves, because … [Read more...]
