Celtic Fires & the Divine Feminine

MINNETONKA, Minn. – "Beltane Fire & Feast," a seminar presented by Barbara A. Everett, will be presented by LightHouse Events from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 30. This seminar will focus on the ritual of spring, long known in the British Isles as Beltane, the celebration of fullness of nature as it emerges from its winter slumber. In ancient texts, Beltane is described as a Fire Festival, when large bonfires were lit from hill to hill. Join participants in creating a fire ritual to insure the continuation of new life and fruitfulness. Following such a powerful ritual, there is always a feast – celebrating life with food and friendship.

The gathering will take place at the home of Elizabeth St. Angelo, 15126 Williston Lane, Minnetonka, MN 55345. The cost is $55. Participants are invited to bring a dish to share for the feast. Checks to Elizabeth St. Angelo are to be sent to her home address.

Barbara Everett founded Aquarian Light in Minneapolis, where she taught spiritual classes, officiated weddings, baptisms, and memorials and led sacred rituals, including full-moon meditations, solstice celebrations and spiritual retreats. She is an astrologer, numerologist, past-life therapist, healer and spiritual teacher. Currently living in Edmonds, Wash., she has mentored hundreds of women and men into various positions of leadership. Barbara will offer private Wisdom Readings on Monday, May 1, and Tuesday, May 2.

Drumming in community

EDINA, Minn. – Community drumming and healing is now taking place every Sunday morning, from 9-11 a.m. at The Center for Wholeness, 4506 Valley View Road, in Edina.

"Science tells us that nothing is really solid," explains organizer Karen Johnson. "All molecules and atoms are vibrating or moving. Even the table or computer keyboard that I am using vibrates at its most basic level. Solid things simply vibrate at a slower rate. Indeed the planet, Grandmother Earth, vibrates. That’s is why we drum.

"Drumming with frame drums, african drums, snare drums, drumming on a box or shaking rattles allows us to unite with the vibrations of Grandmother earth. When we join together, the parts become a whole and we become one with Grandmother Earth. This unity in purpose is a way to synchronize our hearts, our energies and intentions. This unity supports ritual, community, healing and wholeness. We drum to create community, to practice ritual and to unite our strength with that of Grandmother Earth."

Johnson says participants drum with intention.

"Intention is created when we approach Spirit with truth and with expectation," she says. "Our intentions are for personal clarity, healing for ourselves and others, for the children, the animals, in joy and for peace. We join together in unison drumming with a rhythm and freedom that unites us…sometimes drifting apart, but at all times united by a common beat. We do not drum for ecstasy, nor in anger, nor in abandon.

"When we drum, we also recognize the need to sing, to tone, to dance, to whistle and pray. We also use didgeridoos, finger harps, violins, rainsticks and flutes. When we drum, when we pray with the drum, Spirit can hear us."
