The Edge Celebrates 15 years of Publication

What began as a dream of something that can truly assist people in their spiritual growth has resulted 15 years later in a strong holistic publication, an expo promoting internationally known speakers and nearly 150 exhibitors for seven consecutive years in Minneapolis, and smaller but just as effective expos throughout the region.

The September edition will include an interview with Edge founder Gary Beckman and his wife, Insiah, who is the co-owner and business manager. They will explore the journey that has been the Edge and will look into the future and share their visions for the publication, website, expos and events.

We also will present a selection of brief observations about The Edge from readers, advertisers and friends who have enjoyed the Edge during the past 15 years.

The Edge, once a folded newspaper, debuted in September 1992 and focused on exploring the evolution of consciousness. In November 2004, the publication was transformed into an easier-to-read, stapled magazine with a focus on integrating spiritual practices into day-to-day life. A bold new design, coming next month in honor of the publication’s 15th anniversary, will again focus on “edgy” topics related to our shared journey as spiritual beings having a human experience.

The publication debuted its online edition in November 2004 in connection with the new magazine format. Edgelife.net not only includes all content from each month’s edition, but also presents entire advertising supplements – Edge Life Directory and Healing with a Heart – online Happenings calendar events and source networking listings, a searchable database of archives and a searchable list of distribution spots.

Edge Life Expo debuted in November 2001 to promote local organizations, businesses, healers, psychics and speakers. Six years later, it continues to be one of the strongest metaphysical and holistic expositions in the Midwest. It returns November 9-11 to the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Following its first regional expo presented in Waukesha, Wisc., in May 2004, Edge Life has since debuted its Psychic Symposium in the Twin Cities in March 2007 and the Fargo Holistic Expo in May 2007. In 2008, look for the Psychic Symposium in the Twin Cities in February, the Iowa Holistic Expo to debut in Des Moines in March and the Fargo Holistic Expo to return in April. Future events include a Healing Symposium and the eighth annual Edge Life Expo in November.
