Embodied Intelligence in Dreaming, Memory, and Creative Imagination
October 2-3
Robert Bosnak, author of Embodiment: Creative Imagination in Medicine, Art and Travel, will present a lecture and workshop in early October at Luther Seminary in St. Paul on how dreaming, alchemy and neuroscience relate to the body, hosted by Monkey Bridge Arts and the Minnesota Jung Association. Bosnak is a Jungian analyst and pioneer in the field of cyber dreamwork. He has also created an innovative way of working with dreams and memories called “embodied imagination work.” Bosnak will explore the ways in which dreams and flashback memories present themselves as real environments in which we unexpectedly find ourselves. These dreamed environments and the characters we encounter there behave in an apparently intelligent fashion. The craft of embodied imagination will show us a new way of relating to dreams and memory in a way that is ultimately healing. Workshop participants will learn how to use the hypnagogic state of consciousness to facilitate direct access to their dreams and memories. Demonstrations of embodied imagination work and practical exercises will allow participants to see for themselves how this innovative approach can help them meet the challenges of health, relationships, spirit, and creative expression. 4th Annual Northland Bioneers Conference
October 24-25
This two-day conference at Willey Hall on the Minneapolis campus of the University of Minnesota will highlight inspirational work being done on both the local and national levels and provide an opportunity for discussion and networking among individuals concerned with cultivating a sustainable future. Presented by Northland Sustainable Solutions, this conference welcomes all who are interested in better understanding issues of environmental and social sustainability, and how we can help shape a healthy and sustainable future for ourselves and future generations. “We are living in an era in which an impending sense of global crisis is contrasted with the greatest opportunity humanity has known to heal global divisions and cultivate a new level of respect between the peoples of Earth and between humans and the natural world,” said Oake Gregory, Chairman of Northland Sustainable Solutions. “Ever greater numbers of people across the globe are awakening to the realization that the ways in which we have been living are not sustainable, neither culturally nor environmentally. This realization naturally leads to the question, ‘What can I do?’ We offer the Northland Bioneers Conference as a part of the process of understanding how to answer this question, both as individuals and as communities.” This year’s keynote speakers will be Dr. Jonathan Foley, director of the University of Minnesota’s Institute on the Environment, and Susan Hubbard, co-president of Eureka Recycling. Some of this year’s National Bioneers plenary speakers, shown via DVD, include Joanna Macy, Michael Pollan, Jerome Ringo, and Andrew Weil, M.D. Registration information and a full list of national plenary addresses and local speakers and workshops can be found at www.nbconference.org.
