Teacher offering Tantra Kriya Yoga workshop
TWIN CITIES — Certified Yoga teacher Julie K. Halevan will present a daylong workshop on Saturday, Feb. 13, to introduce Tantra Kriya Yoga, a form of dynamic meditation that utilizes, moves and transmutes our sexual, creative energy to bring us closer to enlightenment and unity consciousness, all by the merging of our masculine and feminine aspects. The event will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $55 (includes lunch). This experiential workshop encourages all participants to share, move and feel their own shakti energies through subtle, yet very powerful, yoga postures (asanas), breathwork (pranayama), mantras, mudras, locks and bodywork. “As one learns to be present and begins to clear their energy centers,” Halevan says, “kundalini and shakti energy begin to flow more freely throughout the whole-body system, as it also attracts and merges with others.” Tantra is a Sanskrit word meaning liberation through expansion. Halevan, of Cedar Falls, IA, is a Certified Yoga Teacher, Tantrika and Reiki Master who trained with and graduated, with high honors from the Aura Hatha Yoga School in North Providence, RI. A graduate of Xavier University, she received yogic training at the Sivananda Ashram, located in Naussau, Bahamas. Julie has also received training in Shamanism and recently visited Peru, guided by her shaman, Mallku, who resides in Cusco. She teaches pranayama and Tantra Kriya Yoga classes and gives demonstrations/presentations on yogic practice. Unity Christ Church renewing commitment vows on Valentine’s Day
GOLDEN VALLEY, MN — All couples are invited to Unity Christ Church this Valentine’s Day (Sunday, Feb. 14) during the 9 or 11 a.m. service to renew their vows and, for those in committed relationships, to honor and affirm the Divine presence within your partner. Rev. Pat Williamson, Unity Christ’s senior minister, notes: “Regardless of when you committed to your relationship (60 years ago or 60 days ago), you knew that it would have to be a commitment that was made over and over, for often our primary relationship can be our greatest challenge and our greatest joy; our greatest blessing and our greatest opportunity for growth. Yes, it is in that special love, which expresses in countless ways, that we are able to grow together and increase our consciousness. We know that we have drawn our husband, wife or partner into our lives for the purpose of blessing them and learning from them. We have drawn them into our lives for spiritual support on our own unique individual journey — and, of course, for us to support them. The teacher Jesus reminds us, ‘Where two or more are gathered, I am in the midst of them.’ The Presence is within the midst of each relationship, guiding, loving and supporting us. Thank you God!” Those who would like a keepsake for their renewal are asked to contact the church office by February 7 so a Certificate of Vow Renewal can be prepared. Call 763.521.4793 or e-mail office@unitychristchurch.org. Unity Christ Church is located at 4000 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, MN. Visit www.unitychristchurch.org.
