Carolina Dream Gathering will explore mystery of dreaming

ASHEVILLE, NC – The Carolina Dream Gathering: Bringing Dreams and Community Together, will be presented June 27 through July 1 at the Crowne Plaza Resort as the 27th annual Conference of the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD).

The public is invited to attend the five days of seminars, workshops, lectures, exhibits and events examining dreams and dreamwork, led by more than 150 presenters from all over the world.

Explore the meanings and mysteries of dreams through traditional and innovative theories and therapies, personal study, scientific research, cultural and spiritual traditions, extraordinary and PSI-related dream phenomena, and the arts. The gathering will unite the creative energies of our dream community with the ancient energies of the North Carolina mountains. Special events include an opening celebration and reception, three world-renowned keynote speakers, a dream art exhibit and reception, a Hot-off-the-press and a poster session featuring the most recent work in the field of dream research,  a dream telepathy contest, a dream hike, and the ever-popular closing costume Dream Ball.

The Keynote Speakers are:

  • Antonio Zadra, Ph.D. – Full Professor at the Université de Montréal’s Department of Psychology, Director of the university’s Dream Laboratory, and a Senior Research Scholar of the Quebec Health Research Fund. He has authored over 150 scientific articles, abstracts, and book chapters on dreams, nightmares and parasomnias and his work has been featured in several documentaries and magazines.
  • Jeremy Taylor, D.Min. – Unitarian Universalist Minister and one of the four original co-founders of IASD.  He is author of: Dream Work; Where People Fly And Water Runs Uphill; The Living Labyrinth; The Wisdom of Your Dreams; What Was That All About? A Comic Book About Dreams and What They Mean.
  • Lee Irwin, Ph.D. – Professor and Chair of the Religious Studies Department at the College of Charleston and Vice President of the Association for the Study of Esotericism.  He is author of: The Dream Seekers; Visionary Worlds; Awakening to Spirit; The Alchemy of Soul and Coming Down From Above: Prophecy, Resistance, and Renewal in Native American Religions.

IASD is a non-profit, international, multidisciplinary organization dedicated to the pure and applied investigation of dreams and dreaming. Its purpose is to promote an awareness and appreciation of dreams in both professional and public arenas; to encourage research into the nature of dreaming; to advance the study of dreams; and to provide a forum for the eclectic and interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and information.
