‘The Homegrown Experience’
There’s nothing like fresh sweet corn and ripe-from-the-vine tomatoes to complement your meal. But do you ever wonder where those vegetables come from or consider the labor and TLC involved in producing what you eat? Find out at the “The Homegrown Experience,” an exciting new event by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board that promotes local, sustainable and organic food.

The age 21 and older event – from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, at the Nicollet Island Pavilion in Minneapolis – will give people a greater understanding and appreciation of where food comes from, and how to enjoy it the Homegrown way.

“The Homegrown Experience” will feature: demonstrations by Peace Coffee; Nina Wong, chef and owner of ChinDian Café; and Robin Asbell, author and private chef. An outdoor Farmer’s Market will be featured and an educational stage will give people the ability to talk with local farmers, CSA’s, co-ops, food producers, vintners and brewers. Participants will be able to sip, sample, purchase and learn about local, sustainable and organic foods.

Online tickets are available at www.thehomegrownexperience.com for $25. Tickets are $35 at the door.

Green Lotus Offers New Advanced Yoga Study, Teacher Training Program
Green Lotus Yoga and Healing Center of Lakeville, MN, will launch a new teacher training and advanced study program on September 24. The program’s modular curriculum and class schedule are designed to help participants integrate in-depth yoga study into their busy personal and professional lives and either train for new careers as yoga instructors or simply elevate their level of study.

In nine weekends, one weekend per month, the program is split into a trio of three-month modules. Participants who wish to become a yoga instructor (certified by the Yoga Alliance) register for all three modules. Students interested in deepening their practice can register for one, two or all three modules.

Green Lotus staff members say this program goes deep inside yoga – the poses, breathing, history and anatomy – at a rhythm they think students will find exhilarating, not exhausting.

Open daily, Green Lotus is located a quarter mile west of I-35, just north of 185th Street, at 18480 Kenyon Avenue in Lakeville. Class and workshop schedules, plus healing services appointments, are available by calling 952.373.0055 or online at greenlotusyogactr.com.

Max The Crystal Skull Returns to Minnesota
In a rare Midwest appearance, Max the Crystal Skull will be in the Twin Cities the last weekend in September. Max is one of only two crystal skulls still believed to be ancient. Max is reportedly 36,000 years old. He was found in Guatemala and was given by indigenous healers to a Buddhist lama healer and later taken to Houston, Texas. Before the lama died, he gave Max to Jo Ann Parks, whom he had befriended after treating her daughter. Many people who have had contact with Max have received remarkable advice and healings.

Parks will give a public presentation at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Hilton Garden Inn near I 494 and Bass Lake Road in Maple Grove. She will discuss crystal skulls and tell how she received Max and kept him in a closet until he started hollering at her. The cost for the presentation is $25. Attendees will have an opportunity to briefly touch Max at the end of the evening.

There will be limited time for private meditations with Max during the weekend. For more information, contact Dale or Sheryl Fisher at 763.420.9017.
