“Two years ago, my doctor said I would die of cancer without radiation. With Chow Qigong and other alternatives, today I’m well and live a full life.” – J.C., San Jose, CA

People around the world are seeking cost-effective means of keeping themselves healthy in an increasingly urban environment where stress takes its toll. Teaching people to help and heal themselves and others through the discipline of Qigong is an ancient art and gift that has been passed down through the ages. Now Minnesotans can experience it from one of the leading Qigong experts and healers in the world.

Qigong Grandmaster Effie Chow, Ph.D., R.N., L.Ac., hosted by the Qigong Connection, will present a healing and training event November 4-6 at the Minneapolis Marriott Southwest, 5801 Opus Parkway, in Minnetonka.

Qigong is an essential part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Along with the necessity of laughter and hugs, participants will learn specific meditations and energy exercises, both physical and mental, designed by Dr. Chow to help you experience the innate healing energy that exists in all of us and to help you connect deeply with the power that guides personal healing on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual planes.

Dr. Chow grew up in a small town in British Columbia where she witnessed family and friends routinely practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), using food, herbs, acupuncture, cupping, moxa, Qigong and tai qi with some dramatic and life-saving results. Ignorance and ethnic prejudice in the 1940s discouraged these practices. Dr. Chow went into nursing in the 1950s, quickly becoming aware of the revolving door concept: people going in and out of the hospital, rarely getting totally better.

After the premature death of her father from a side reaction to medication, Dr. Chow commenced a 10-year search and study of TCM and Qigong in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Canada and the U.S., witnessing many “miracles.” Taking the best of both systems, she founded the East West Academy of Healing Arts in 1974. Today Dr. Chow teaches TCM and Qigong internationally and maintains a clinical practice (attracting patients worldwide), specializing in critical cases, including stress, stroke; cancer, and respiratory, emotional and neuro-muscular conditions “where all else has failed,” using her original Chow Integrated Healing System/Chow Medical Qigong.

For years her message has been, “Qigong in every household in the world will optimize health, promote vitality in longevity, and prevent, delay and cure serious illnesses naturally!” She has been working tirelessly to bring together Eastern and Western medicines and TCM practitioners to help this become a reality, and she founded the World Congress on Qigong/TCM to build an international platform for Eastern medicine so that the two approaches could become a unified body. The 14th World Congress on Qigong/TCM will be in Toronto, Canada, from May 25-28, 2012.

Dr. Chow has also founded the EWAHA Qigong Institute, the American Qigong Association, the American Medical Qigong Association and the World Qigong Federation. She was one of the original 15 people appointed by President Bill Clinton to be part of the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine policy.
