MAGUS BOOKS & HERBS may not seem like a holistic healing center on the outside, but one of the best kept secrets of Magus is the Magus Healing Center. A group of traditional and natural health practitioners provide holistic healthcare to our customers with crafts that include Herbalism, Reiki, Cranio-Sacral Massage and Acupuncture, among other modalities.
In the back of Magus is a room devoted completely to the art of healing. It is staffed by three healers with a similar goal in mind: to provide a spiritual and physical transcendence for you, the client. With a wide variety of knowledge, they are able to provide the best service and prescription for clients and help them choose the healing that works to the greatest good for their body. They have treated many a Magus customer to a fully relaxing and spiritually fulfilling massage, helped a mother to bring a healthy baby to term, and even relieved horrible cases of allergies.
The Magus healing team has three members — Liz Johnson, Mela Amara, and Anthony VanWagner. Each of them have their own journey that has brought them to the arts of holistic healing, but at Magus they have found a home and have been serving clients for years.
- Liz Johnson is the Herbalist at Magus Books and Herbs. She studied the art of herbalism under Matthew Wood, and has been in private practice since 1995. She had continued her studies of alternative medicines over the years and also offers the services of Reiki, Cupping, Moxibustion, Flower Essences and Aromatherapy.
- Mela Amara is the Massage Therapist at Magus Books and Herbs, offering a unique experience with Cranio-Sacral Shiatsu and Integrative Intuitive massage. Both forms offer a transcendent experience in helping you tune deeply into your body, emotions and spirit. Cranio-Sacral Shiatsu is modestly performed through loose, comfortable clothing. Integrative Intuitive Massage is a combination of multiple massage modalities.
- Anthony VanWagner is the Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist at Magus Books & Herbs. He offers 90-minute sessions that can include Fire Cupping, Moxibustion, Herbal Consultations, and Tui Na. His practice specializes in sports injury, allergies, fibromyalgia, anxiety, depression and insomnia.
Liz, Mela and Anthony have spent many years treating and being the communicator between a client’s mind and body, even going so far as to keep their minds sharp by continuing their studies in their chosen fields. Not only do they provide their services to the customers, but the Magus team offers knowledge to its customers. They provide classes that can enlighten you on a specific subject, or start you down the road of becoming a healer yourself.
By offering classes and the Magus Healing Center, Magus Books invokes thought and spirituality, granting the community with skill and knowledge of the human body and its well-being.
