Change Your Reality by Awakening to the Present Moment
“The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.” — Buddha
IN THE COURSE of your lifetime, have there been more than only brief moments of bad events? You keep the memory of those small portions of your past alive by your “mind chatter,” the “story” that you tell yourself and others, repeatedly. You continue to recreate and relive the bad moments, leading to more pain and suffering. Your subconscious, emotions and body respond accordingly. You pile more worry and stress on yourself, expecting your future to hold more of the same. This future becomes self-fulfilling. Your perception is your reality. For as you are living your life now, you are creating your future.
How great would you feel about yourself if the memory of every negative emotion and event suddenly vanished? How about if you had no concept of the future? By focusing on “now” with acceptance, you are free from the mistakes of your past and the worries of your future. How you react to any person or situation is no longer colored by negative emotions of the past or fear of the future. You are fully aware that “this” is all there is. This is it. Right here, right now. There is no thought about the past or future. You are fully immersed solely in the moment, living and accepting life where life is happening. You are free to experience joy, love and all the good things in life.
Sounds great, doesn’t it? You can do this. How? Take back your personal power. Forgive yourself and all others. Free yourself from every bad event, word and deed. Let go of those stories by focusing on what you are doing right now. Free yourself from the illusion of time. Stop talking to yourself and others about the past and future.
You can’t do anything about the past and the future will never arrive. Live in the present by keeping your thoughts and self talk in the present to what is happening right now. Practice awareness in all your actions and truly experience each moment. Experience and enjoy your senses: notice colors, textures, aromas, focus on your breath, listen to enjoyable music or guided meditations, create beauty around you, practice self-care, go to that class or take that vacation. Stop living for others. Live in love, but live for yourself. Express your gratitude for all that is. Remove disharmony from your life and environment.
When the moment is less than enjoyable, recognize the common story lines of your life’s dramas as they are happening. Take a step back and observe yourself with acceptance and love in your role as an actor in this stage we call life. What thoughts and or actions created this portion of your reality? Live in detachment and embrace uncertainty. When you think of the future, think only of your desires.
Ask for help from your angels, guides and Source to manifest those desires into material form. Your life will steadily improve as each positive moment continues to build upon the last. What you think Now is not only your reality, but it creates your future.
