Ode to Heron

414

bird-heronBlue Heron flies into the day
with the colors of grace and gray
for he is not blue at all.
Cloaked in a feathered rainbow
of Silver Cloud lining
he sits down without a sound
onto the misty shore.
He is in love
and with an anxious squawk
he patiently awaits her arrival.
Day after day
She awakens and greets him
with a golden glowing smile.
Yet Dawn moves on
never stopping to caress.
This silver prince in waiting
standing tall all alone
looks on in her light.
An endless love knowing
that she will return
after the moon and dark of night.
