Energy workers know and understand several things about energy. First, of course, is Einstein’s famous formula, E = mc2. The amount of energy contained within matter is equal to its mass times the square of the speed of light.
I worked it out one time: the energy contained in a long hair could power a city the size of Chicago for a day, if we could convert it at 100 percent efficiency.
This formula means that everything is energy — you, plants, animals, rocks, water, the earth and the sun. We access this universal abundance of energy when we do energy healing.
Light is a powerful expression of energy.
When we stand in the light, we know that we are in the presence of a power stronger than ourselves. This is the power, or energy, that I refer to as God. The equation — God = light — works for me. Light is the ultimate expression that energy can make.
The first time I said “The Light Prayer” was when Jaentra Gardner Green taught me how to do energy healing. After saying it, I could feel an energetic boost immediately — and so could the person who was receiving the healing treatment.
Throughout the years I may have forgotten the exact words we used at that time, but the prayer works the same now as it did then. I feel a surge of energy coming in from all directions and moving through my hands to the person with whom I am working.
The words I use are:
I am the light
The light is within me
The light moves through me
The light surrounds me
I am the Light!
Later, I attended at Unity Church service that ended with a similar light prayer:
The light of God surrounds us;
The love of God enfolds us;
The power of God protects us;
The presence of God watches over us.
Wherever we are, God is.
And all is well.
A search on the web turned up numerous other versions, as well.
Regardless which of the light prayers is used, the surge in energy while doing healing work has been amazing. This enhances the process: visualizing the light all around me, moving through me from and in all directions, and the light emanating from my heart and third eye. Visualizing the light from my third eye as a laser beam, I can hone in on a specific area and send a supercharged beam of healing energy. I have even used this in a room when I sensed that someone was in need of it. (I always precede this practice with a request to the soul of the person to accept this gift of love for the good of the person, and if it is not in their best interest to receive it, to send it into the earth for peace.)
In addition to using The Light Prayer during healing work, I have been reminded to use it when I need a little boost, if I am experiencing an illness or find myself in an uncomfortable situation. As a high school math teacher, this prayer provided me with the boost I needed many times as I stood in front of a room of unhappy adolescents.
This is one prayer that I know works well, not only to connect me to the light (remember my equation, light = God!) but to let that God energy give me what I need to carry on. So, keep calm, carry on, and use the light prayer!
