Author and spiritual counselor Mary Hayes Grieco will lead a four-hour spring workshop on the art and practice of forgiveness from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Spirit United Church, 3204 Como Ave. SE, Minneapolis.

Mary is the author of several books, including most recently Unconditional Forgiveness, and she is one of the world’s foremost experts in the emerging field of forgiveness. She is director of The Midwest Institute for Forgiveness Training (,

Her workshop, sponsored by Ancient Mysteries / Ancient Wisdom, the Minneapolis branch of Theosophical Society – Adyar, will reveal forgiveness as an ancient teaching and present a new definition for forgiveness. Mary will explore how forgiveness heals emotional body pain and clears personal subtle energy system of blockages. The workshop also will explore unconditional love and forgiveness as a spiritual pathway to enlightenment and demonstrate how to forgive another person using the eight steps of forgiveness.

“Forgiveness,” according to Mary Hayes Grieco, “is an ancient and troublesome spiritual concept that is essential to health, good relationships and spiritual growth. It is a central principle in all of the world’s great religions; and there are thousands of new studies that indicate that emotional toxicity creates diseases, but that forgiveness significantly reduces this emotional toxicity.”

Mary will sell copies of her many books and autograph them during intermission and at the end of the weekend workshop. Her other books include The New Kitchen Mystic, Kitchen Mystic: Lessons Hidden in Everyday Life, Be a Light, The Peaceful Heart, and Living Your Purpose.

The workshop cost is: $35 adults; $55 couples and families; $30 for students, seniors and members. Reservations may be made at the door or in advance with check or money order to Minneapolis Theosophical Society, 1034 Dayton Ave., St. Paul, MN 55104 by March 26.

Mary Hayes Grieco worked on the faculty of the Hazeldon Renewal Center from 1996-2008 as a spiritual retreat leader for people in recovery from addiction. She taught courses in the spirituality of the workplace at the Management Center at the University of St. Thomas. She was a featured speaker at the Nobel Peace Prize Forum in 2005. She has trained a network of therapists who work with military families, and she has taught forgiveness around the world.

The sponsor, Ancient Mysteries / Ancient Wisdom, holds public meetings at Spirit United Interfaith Church at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays each month. As a branch of the international Theosophical Society with headquarters in India, the sponsor is not otherwise affiliated with Spirit United or any other church or religious organization.
