Let’s Walk

donnelly
let’s walk down Franklin Avenue hand
in hand
and we won’t part for anyone
not the man who might be drunk
not the old lady in a burka scarf
or children on their bikes
they’ll have to go around us

it doesn’t seem quite fair you’ll say
and it isn’t but
when do we get to have our way
when others have all the fun okay
let’s walk down Franklin Avenue arm
in arm
so close we’ll be as one
