The Secret to Making Your Affirmations Successful

Are you about ready to crumple up the affirmations you taped on the mirror and throw them into the trash? You’re not alone. We trust that our affirmations will bring us relief and serve as a gateway to our most coveted desires. We post these positive words on our walls and most sacred places around our home. We scan the words with our eyes and say them again out loud. Again and again we repeat the process with hopeful longing that what we want most will manifest into our reality. It can be heartbreaking when our most treasured declarations betray us.

So, why is it that affirmations don’t always work?

The likely culprit is our subconscious. Feeding ourselves affirmations when we have underlying emotional baggage is like a sleezy car salesman thinking he’s going to trick everyone into paying top dollar for junk cars. If our subconscious isn’t buying what we are selling, there won’t be any progress.

To truly get what we want, it is necessary to heal underlying pain bodies causing roadblocks in our subconscious. Roadblocks may sound like, “I’m not good enough,” “Who am I to think I could do that?” and “I don’t think I can.” These pain bodies can develop early on and stay with us for years if left unresolved. Anyone who told you that you’re not worth it, not good enough or not smart enough has the potential to leave a lasting impact on your perception of yourself and your perception of the world. The good new is that you can do something about it.

The solution is found in energy healing work. Here are some specific techniques that when done alone or with a practitioner can result in amazingly positive results:

• Emotional freedom technique (EFT) facilitates healing through stimulation of the energy points on the body. The process involves physically tapping the acupressure points around the upper body while engaging is self-talk. While this may sound a bit too woo-woo for some, those who have tried EFT experience amazing results. It is known to help induce calm as you process and resolve difficult emotional baggage.

• Inner child healing work is valuable for everyone, especially those who experienced trauma early in life. Our inner child sticks with us throughout adulthood and affects our thoughts and decisions in a variety of ways, some of which we’re not consciously aware of. The key is to get in touch with your inner self and address the underlying issues (anxiety, distrust, anger, etc.) without judgment. Working on the root cause of your pain can be incredibly transformational and bring about a new sense of inner peace.

• Sacred anger work has always been fascinating to me. As a practitioner of spiritual work, I know that one of the most common misconceptions is that spiritually awakened people are laid-back hippie types with flowers in their hair dancing around, flaunting their positivity. The truth is, that’s just not realistic. We all experience a variety of different emotions and anger is just one of them. Anger isn’t bad; it is simply blocked energy and unresolved pain. If you can trace the anger back to the core issue, you will be able to find the pathway to forgiveness, self-love and hopefulness for the future.
