Eckankar, a global religious organization based in Chanhassen, Minn., recently announced that its 2020 ECK Springtime Seminar scheduled for April 10–12 in Minneapolis has been canceled in light of recent developments with the coronavirus, COVID-19, pandemic. The annual seminar usually attracts 2,300 attendees from 40 countries.
Eckankar’s leadership team consulted with the Minnesota Department of Health and monitored updates from the United States Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization to determine how to best be of service to the local community and seminar attendees.
“Health authorities around the world are expressing deep concern about the risks of holding large events in the wake of the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak,” said Patrick Milan, spokesperson for Eckankar. “The health and well-being of the community and seminar attendees was Eckankar’s first priority in making this decision.”
Susan Miller, president of Eckankar, said, “Eckankar appreciates the support of a large group of community partners in Minneapolis and Chanhassen. We recognize the unavoidable impact on local businesses who enjoy the support of our visitors, and we thank them for their understanding.”
Eckankar expects to hold its fall seminar in Minneapolis in October 2020.
