Tarot from Conscience (or the Traveling Moth)
A space for tarot reflection for the day, week, or moment it comes across your screen. Each of these is reworked intentionally for The Edge, from the egregore of GroupTarot’s Card of the Week, to center education, diversity, and intuition.

This Week’s Card
My brother of spirit, and someone who I will occasionally do gallery style tarot readings with, gifted me two tarot decks in 2020, one for my birthday, one for Yule. The original sharing of this card was the first time I shared Tarot of the Sidhe through my lens with the outside world. It’s incredibly appropriate for Week 8 of Tarot from Conscience or the Traveling Moth because eights are just infinity symbols flipped vertically.
We are constantly learning, continuing the cycles, shifting perspective, learning more and continuing on. Ends are beginnings are endings, and so on and so forth.
Maker Two. Responsibility.
In a traditional deck this would be the Two of Pentacles, but this is *not* a traditional deck. Here we have a fae baby lying in the grass and cradled in the roots of a beautiful tree, a big black low knot, like a sacred yoni with a spiral in her depths that is the umbilical cord of the babe. Born, yet deeply tethered to the magickal depths, the lands of the Sidhe, the Fae, even though the child will grow up in a different world.
So where in a RWS (Rider Waite Smith) tradition this card looks at the work/life balance and what balls we’re juggling – and that is a component here. Child rearing is work. Work/Life balance is important (and it’s important for us to transform or rebirth out of false dichotomies) – this illustration wants to have us look at our different worlds more. At our different responsibilities.
Are they in balance?
Are they being nourished by the Great Mother? A Great Parent? An Ancient Oak? The Grass, Sun and Air?
Are we sharing our nourishment in balance? Or are we allowing our life force to be leached away?
What umbilical cords do we have energetically even after our physical ones fall off or are surgically removed?
Also, when we make things or beings, we have a responsibility to them if we actually desire them to succeed. That takes work and may take sacrifice. However, if we sacrifice our own health & wellness how can we ever hope to have a healthy prodigy?
So, let us lead by example, prioritize our responsibilities, and make sure we are being nourished by our connections to raise the next generations well and care for our own inner fae, wild, magickal child. For this seed of growth is new. It’s just two. We have all the way to the royals through cards 3 – 10, to go.
Also remember, we are tethered to place: to land to trees, air, sky, butterflies, sunlight, grass, rocks. They are our home, our stories, our nourishment.
Let us care for Them well too.
