Starcodes week of September 3-9, 2021

Labor Day is the industrious Virgo holiday where we celebrate our ordinary labors by taking a last delicious break before summer’s end. This Labor Day brings a new Moon in Virgo and a new request for us to examine what we need to be on track with both our personal and professional work. After a relatively lazy weekend it’s time to find a new sense of purpose, whether we decide to focus on a big existential or political Gestalt or choose a temporary project.

But first let’s get back to that lazy weekend. With Mercury and Venus now in beauty-appreciating, Venus-ruled Libra, all this week we can look for the poignant beauty of early fall, a leaf turning in golden light, birds gathering for the great flight south.

The waning Moon enters Leo Friday morning and asks us to center ourselves and really look at what we love, what feeds our life force, and see how we can maximize that in our life. Mars lingers in an opposition to day-dreaming Neptune over the weekend, dissolving anger and outworn ambitions, but can leave us temporarily unsure or foggy-headed. Though it can eventually help us dream up a more relevant direction.

Even though it can be tempting to put our problems into a melodramatic format to give ourselves permission for self-care in these dire times and under all these Virgo planets, we don’t need to. That’s not the point. We have a lot of work to do this year, to remake the world and take step after step to bring those changes to fruition, and we need to be in good shape to get there. The more we need to be of service, the more we need to care for ourselves so we can stay in there for the long haul.

Mercury trine Saturn on Saturday and on Saturday night and helps us make some same decisions or helps us invoke good things. Proportion, justice, a moment’s peace can really feed our soul, whereas the world’s disharmony can grate against our nerves and call for action as Venus squares Pluto on Sunday and energizing Mars trines Pluto early next week. We may become newly aware of loss, whether it be that leaf falling or people dying amidst the world’s crisis.

Monday brings a new Moon in Virgo a new beginning in our work, however we define that. The Sun forms a gentle trine to change-inducing Uranus and encourages us to look at our chores, our daily habits, health regimes – all Virgo things – and make sure they serve us. It can also bring out a nervy critique or crank up our self-criticism, so let’s be gentle with this anxiousness and give it some other problem to solve.

It’s time to sharpen our pencils and assess our situation as we come back to the rhythms of the work world on Tuesday. Let’s look at our work life balance for sustainability and work on our relationship our work relationships, reach out and ask how we can help the people we know can also help us.
