Appearances

Faith flees and returns,
Some errant leaf on wind.
Same as a sun ray pinpoints
One clump of snow in a tree’s crook,
Full moon on snowy front lawn.
One blue jay on a branch.
Wild turkey in the wood,
Huge black hump, white wing
Distinguishes it from the underbrush.

The deer, when I turned on the kitchen faucet,
The way she stared at me through glass.

Things I can’t hold in my fingers,
But things that arrive
The moment faith has flown
To carry it back again.
