Tarot from Conscience (or the Traveling Moth)
A space for tarot reflection for the day, week, or moment it comes across your screen. Each of these is reworked intentionally for The Edge, from the egregore of GroupTarot’s Card of the Week, to center education, diversity, and intuition.

It’s sunny, cold, and windy here in New Mexico. It’s beautiful being back and I am grateful at how my internal landscape has shifted with my acceptance of more time in New Mexico. As well as choosing when I am going to be here rather than allowing circumstances or others to dictate my location. Allowing the high desert and temperate rain forests to share me. I’ve done ten years of intentional foundation and relationship building, so I trust I am supported in both locations which makes it much easier for this only child. I have ways I am nourished in both area and have fallen in love with their contrasts while I marvel at their similarities – I have coyote neighbors in both!
This week we shift back to cards intentionally for The Edge community and cards intention-ally for Group Tarot’s mailing list. You are welcome on both! There are fascinating synchronicities.
Tarot of the Sidhe gives us,
Warrior Three inverted. Alignment.
What do you do when you’re out of alignment? When your energy is draining out faster than it’s being replenished? When you’re burning up yourself, your friends, your family, your spirit? Burning the candle at both ends, upending your cup, (the Moon looks like an upended bowl or cup to me.)
How do we turn it around? To be in alignment?
What I did before choosing the card is one tactic, the Tao breath.
Lying flat on your back to reset your nervous system is another. My most influential under-grad Feldenkrais teacher Phyllis Griffin (also my first Black female teacher in a traditional edu-cational structure! May there be much much more diversity in education and may we each do what we can to support this shift!) asked us all on the last day of class to promise her that if we kept only one ATM (Attention Through Movement), that it would be this one. I – and my classmates – promised her to lie on our backs to reset the nervous system whenever our bodies said to.
Hmmm… I could recommit to this promise. I’m pretty good at it, but I get conflicted; like now when my spine wants the floor and other parts of me want to continue channeling this card.
I’m going to lie on the floor now.
{sigh}
Did you join me on the floor for a few breaths?
Would you like to? This writing will be here when you get back. That’s the beautiful thing about the written word.
*a few beats*
Welcome back.
I definitely feel better after lying on the floor (Shavasana for the other yoga practitioners) do-ing some pelvic clock ATM and then cat/cow poses.
These are also some of the tools I use during Mind, Body, Voice Connection classes. There are a TON of physical exercises to release stress and realign, which I find even more potent when done with voice.
As we rotate closer to the Solstice, it’s easy to be out of alignment because we’re either in the light or dark part of our years, all the different seasonal pulls, and yet, the world wants us to be in balance. The worlds, really, as this card is from Tarot of the Sidhe. The fae are here and they are also in other worlds. All of which desire balance. Equilibrium. Tidal flow.
I love that Emily Carding illustrated this card with three around a Stonehenge or Avebury like sacred formation. It also asks us the question, are we walking our talk? Is our spirit aligned with our work and with our friends? Or are we allowing folx who are out of alignment with us to be in our world and leech our energy? Pull us off our center? Keep us in conversations or situations longer than we want to stay?
Maybe it’s time to intentionally burn those bridges, when it is truly for greater health and wellness.
Another way to shift back into alignment is through celebration and gratitude. Personal ritu-als, celebrating the rising Sun and Moon, breathing in their radiance, illumination and bril-liance. Other celebrations like birthdays – I just had one!
What or who are you celebrating today?
