Tarot from Conscience (or the Traveling Moth)
A space for tarot reflection for the day, week, or moment it comes across your screen. Each of these is reworked intentionally for The Edge, from the egregore of GroupTarot’s Card of the Week, to center education, diversity, and intuition.

Did y’all enjoy pie yesterday? Take in something sweet or savory? Were I back home in Portland, I would have enjoyed a slice of marionberry from Bipartisan Cafe. Instead, I tried out Los Ranchos bakery and am happy to report their cherry pie is delicious! My dad was even able to enjoy some without us having to put it in the food processor! For those who don’t know, my dad is severely disabled. His muscular system was hardest hit in a freak accident over thirty years ago, so chewing and swallowing isn’t easy for him.
This week I’m pulling from Field Guide to Garden Dragons, artwork by Stanley Morrison, written by my dear NM friend Arwen Lynch-Poe. You can check out the super fun YouTube video we did looking at just a few of her oracle decks. Including this one.
Arwen and I can chat for HOURS. We have so much in common. Similar queers, similar experiences nesting in NM, similar love of tarot – it is how we met, afterall – both love Conscience (or the Traveling Moth). She’s one of my bus’s loving helpers when I travel places without her sparkly purple majesty. Thank you Arwen for keeping her engine happy! I also have some western travel plans on the way. Stay tuned!
Without further adieu, Field Guide to Garden Dragons, gives us:
Orange Dragon, Rewards.
Yes please! I don’t know about you, but I am ready to reap some rewards for the work I’ve been doing! For the carrots I’ve been placing on the scales, as my corporeal mime teacher Daniel Stein always used to say. This little one is tangy sweet and juicy. A more mature dragon given the predominance of orange on their body, barely the tips of the wings are green (their dominant color during youth.) So even though this dragon looks cute and adorable, they’re actually quite grown up, with a surprising amount of experience under their scales. They have worked and pollinated, traveled and cavorted for many Moons. This resembles more than a few people I know!
Your time, work, and diligence are paying off. Keep adding carrots to the scale, eventually it tips ~ not to be confused with the Carrot Dragon, although having keen eyesight is helpful in both instances!
Orange Dragon in our lives is an incredibly fortuitous omen. They bring marvelousness, frequently in relation to how much joy you squeeze out of life. If you’ve been working towards promotions or salary increases, building your business, honing your craft and being recognized for your work, the omens are good ~ what a thing to be able to type during this time of global war and pandemic shifting endemic!
Maybe when you’re drinking juice or choosing your clothes and jewelry this week, you’ll be inspired by our fiery citrus friend.
Orange also connects to the sacral chakra, midway between our belly button and perineum. Listen closely to your gut this week, and eat foods that make your gut happy. If you need those probiotics, take ’em! If drinking orange juice is too acidic for your digestive system, maybe some orange essential oil will help invigorate you as we get ever closer to the Full Moon and the Equinox.
