Tarot from Conscience (or the Traveling Moth)
A space for tarot reflection for the day, week, or moment it comes across your screen. Each of these is reworked intentionally for The Edge, from the egregore of GroupTarot’s Card of the Week, to center education, diversity, and intuition.

How ya doing?
It’s been a rough time for a lot of people given the Supreme Court’s decision last week.
When/if you were feeling depleted, were you able to find ways to nourish yourself? To tap into your Star energy? Or consensually feed from another’s Star energy? If you’re not sure what I’m talking about you can watch the YouTube video here, at 4:50 I start getting into The Star.
On the day of the decision – which I fully dissent and this month’s NMGT – which is TONIGHT! Come join us – contribution will be for Planned Parenthood – I was wearing my theatre hat, working wigs on the final week of the Broadway tour of Cats.
One of the local stagehands called in sick and a dear friend of mine was brought on the call. Ann has been wanting to work Broadway show calls for years, so this was a literal dream come true. She was on cloud nine! Picked out her best show black clothing, came fully prepared, and had to work hard containing bursting excitement to socially acceptable levels, all the while fully grokking the gravity of the world at large and, “I wasn’t going to let mostly a bunch of cis white guys rain on my parade.”
It was an absolute joy to celebrate her that day. To have something to celebrate.
After we were done, we came back to my place for an impromptu celebration with bourbon shots, and organic dark chocolate hazelnut spread on farmers market strawberries, all enjoyed on my back patio.
What have you been able to celebrate?
Normally, my question to the cards – back continuing to celebrate Pride Month with the Pride Tarot compilation deck, I ask what card wants to be focused on this week.
Today, I felt differently and asked, “what will nourish us this week?”
Our answer,
Two of Wands
I love this illustration by Emily Balivet. The fiery paisley, standing back to back – wands at the ready – connected not only by the swirling red, yellow and green teardrops and swirls (did you know this motif comes to us from Persia?) – but by their headdresses. Although they could just match.
There’s symmetry and balance here.
Shared spine.
Who shares your spine? Your values? Your fire?
Who in your community matches you, metaphorically speaking?
Who’s your bestie right now? Someone who shares your fire – your drive, energy, vision – who wants to take action similarly.
Know who you’re willing to fight with and what for, in all the different literal and metaphorical arenas fighting may occur.
Trust your spine. Though there’s a lot about Macbeth that’s challenging, and I would much rather invest my energy dreaming and building a b.e.s.t. world rather than revisiting toxic power models, the quote “screw your courage to the sticking place and we’ll not fail” is coming to mind.
Out of context this quote works well. In context, I do not support murdering innocent people.
Traditionally the Two of Wand’s meaning, I nicknamed “think globally, act locally.”
In terms of nourishment, this may mean supporting your local farmers market or mom & pop grocer. Choosing to vote every day with your dollars, euros, rupees, CFA Franc, etc.
Also, this is a two. Of wands. Fire.
Fire only exists with Earth and Air.
Last week our Earth, our Pentacles were reversed, so be careful of starting grand plans, and not having the resources to support them.
Starting small is a beautiful thing. As I’ve said here before, the mighty Redwood tree comes from a tiny little seed cone. And each tree passes on hundreds and hundreds of seeds in the hopes that just one will root.
Maybe, spread your ideas in many directions, hopefully. Full of your vision of a better, more equitable, healthy world.
Maybe sit or stand back to back with a friend for 20 seconds or so. I don’t know if this will help your parasympathetic nervous system like hugging will, but I personally love feeling the literalness of someone having my back.
You have your own back as well.
No doubt more will come up Tuesday night at New Moon Group Tarot.
See you tonight!
