Tarot from Conscience (or the Traveling Moth)
A space for tarot reflection for the day, week, or moment it comes across your screen. Each of these is reworked intentionally for The Edge, from the egregore of GroupTarot’s Card of the Week, to center education, diversity, and intuition.

Good afternoon from a beautiful, sunny and warm Portland.
Thanks to an invitation to join an ecstatic dance, I had a deep communion with The Sun on Sunday; so appropriate.
Parts of my body were filled with The Sun’s radiance in ways I had not drawn down intentionally – like I have the Moon – over my decades of practicing witchcraft.
It’s interesting to realize an imbalance I was previously ignorant of.
There I was, dancing outdoors, distanced from so many other bodies.
Music thrumming.
I lay down on the grass to drink it all in; dance with the ground.
I felt the heat of the Sun over my hips.
I thought about how I intentionally Drew Down The Moon in all Her phases after my hysterectomy as I missed my blood cycle connection.
The Sun wanted to be there too.
I Drew Down The Sun into all my chakras, especially my pelvis and former womb, and marveled for a while. I was energized differently.
I do so much work with the Moon beyond New Moon Group Tarot – Next up Thursday July 28th at a different time. 8:30pm Central.
I have yet to do equal work with the Sun, regardless of celebrating the Equinoxes, Solstices and Cross Quarters for decades. Even though, I often talk about the dance of the Sun and Moon, how they share the skies equally even though they are rarely seen at the same time.
Funny, how unaware we can be of ourselves sometimes, even when we are exquisitely aware of ourselves in other ways.
With that foundation, this week a new to me deck wants to share, Animalis os Fortuna by Zaheroux.
Thank you for the deck, Arwen.
It gives us,
Four of Swords.
Fascinating.
Y’all know this is a card I am well familiar with from my Four of Swords meditation. It’s my free gift when you join my mailing list.
It’s name comes from being a supine meditation, rather than Four of Swords specific. That’ll come in the fall with my upcoming Moving Through the Minors class, in the same way we explored all the Major Arcana through movement, having our own Major dance and gestures, through June.
Typically, the Four of Swords is a card about listening to dreams, getting enough sleep, meditating.
Here we have a chicken.
Sitting. Looking right, to the future.
The first thing that came to mind is the saying, don’t put all your eggs in one basket.
Although I’m not certain this is a hen… cause looking closely, it has a pretty big comb – more pronounced in roosters – and long wattles – also, generally more pronounced on roosters.
However, roosters are not known for sitting on eggs.
Nor do we have any illustration here of eggs, I just saw a sitting chicken and automatically presumed it would be sitting on eggs.
Interestingly, upon closer examination, the chicken’s eyes could be closed, it’s hard to tell and kind of both.
While my deck doesn’t have a LWB (Little White Book), it does have some animal listing cards and the artist, Zaheroux, does list it as rooster.
So a rooster it is.
Breathe.
Watch.
Crow.
Check your assumptions, even on seemingly minor stuff.
It’s an excellent, low stakes rehearsal for checking yourself in larger, more vulnerable, ways.
