Every year the Sun in Virgo encourages us to get healthy before the winter. Virgo encourages us to look at how we eat, tend our digestion. Let’s contemplate what we need to release and what to nurture for our health and the health of our ecosystem before the winter begins.
In this most mercurial season, with the Sun and Venus in Mercury-ruled Virgo and Mars in Mercury-ruled Gemini, Mercury turns retrograde tonight – Friday – for the next three weeks. Mercury is the symbolic ruler of our mental switchboard, out communication systems, and all transportation, so life may get strange for a while. But we can make this retrograde cycle work for us if we mobilize basic Mercury retrograde skills.
Let this be a month of review. Whether we are beginning a new semester, revising an old script, or thinking about the long story of the English throne. Assess the situation, prepare, and get ready to kick a new chapter into gear by mid-October.
Retrograde planets appear to back up against the zodiac as an artifact of the difference between our orbit and other orbiting planets. Mercury is the planet of movement, so all things mercurial are most uncomfortable when Mercury appears to hold still for a few days at the beginning and end of its retrograde cycle.
Keep schedules loose enough to accommodate delays, put safety first, and always carry a good book. Notice opportunities within the quirks; when delayed, look for fascinating people nearby or a chance to revise the plan and fix a fatal flaw long before becomes a problem. Reconnect with old friends and clients, revisit old haunts, dust off old projects.
Track anything that needs to be completed because paperwork can become lost flotsam otherwise. If tension arises, assume it is a misunderstanding or revelation of an earlier problem, see what can be straightened out before launching a fit. Slow everything down, Mercury retrograde symptoms worsen when we rush.
If tension arises in any relationship, assume it’s a misunderstanding and clarify. Hold still and dwell with one another in spirit and heart when words get difficult. This Mercury retrogrades opposite expansive Jupiter which can start our mental hamsters on their treadmills and stir our strange psychic quirks. It also helps us liberate our minds from those dysfunctional patterns, if we become conscious of them and take a step backwards, let go of our identification with those patterns.
As the weekend begins a Pisces Moon – waxing to full early Saturday – can leave us feeling easily overwhelmed and highly sensitive, teary even, but able to perceive a sense of a delicate way forward. On Sunday the Moon enters feisty Aries, the Sun trines inspiring Uranus and we are encouraged to release some imaginary limit. Consider some short-term changes in plans, schedule, or self-perception.
Midweek a practical Taurus Moon conjuncts Uranus and we may surprise ourselves with some more fundamental shift, we could move furniture or reorganize the structure of our systems. Use Thursday afternoon and evening as a chance to check in with people and make sure the lines of communication are open, clear, and everyone is on the same page under a verbal and nervy Gemini Moon.

Friday, September 9: Be gentle, keep expectations reasonable. Our feelings are heightened, we can react to any strange comment or subtle dela, and there may be lots of them as the Moon waxes full in Pisces and Mercury retrogrades at 9:38 PM. Don’t take things so personally or try to argue people out of their feelings or inspirations, just hold the space and further understanding.

Saturday, September 10: This morning’s Pisces full Moon keeps us soft, ripens our hearts, but could leave possibly feeling too sensitive for life’s rough-and-tumble. Use the awareness constructively, pour it into art, healing methods, or simple perception of beauty and spirit. Do something longed for, just do it slowly and have contingency plans as that full Moon conjuncts dreamy Neptune this afternoon.
Moon opposes Sun 3:59 AM, Moon sextile Uranus 5:51 AM, Moon conjunct Neptune 2:55 PM.
Sunday, September 11: Practice impulse control and come back to the heart. We can feel the urge to jump forward under the Aries Moon and as the sun trines Uranus but the more we push, the faster we move, the more accidents are likely to happen. Stay centered, speak from the heart and look at what positive changes can come out of this.
Moon enters Aries 12:47 AM, Sun trine Uranus 7:09 AM, Moon conjunct Jupiter 10:30 AM, Moon opposed Mercury 3:52 PM, Moon sextile Mars 9:56 PM.
Monday, September 12: Hurry up and wait, and impatience to get on with our life kicks in as that Aries Moon approaches a square to Pluto tonight. Watch for some impatient Machiavellian moves and power plays today in the news, and don’t do that at home. Instead, keep that energy clean, clear, and responsible.
Moon sextile Saturn 11:25 AM, Moon square Pluto 10:52 PM
Tuesday, September 13: The Moon enters Taurus encourages us to slow down and do some basic work. It might be time to work in the garden do the chores, get more centered and aligned so that other projects are easier to manifest. Work on all health traits, make being healthy delicious.
Moon enters Taurus 5:39 Am.
Wednesday, September 14: We’d like a kind and comfortable morning. Then be ready to look at fundamental issues, the bottom of the pile, the foundation of the house, the groundwork underneath the theory, notice what’s solid and what needs to be adjusted as the Moon conjuncts Uranus in Taurus. Watch big shifts in policy or groundwork. Release, edit, let go of what is no longer needed to create room for that which will grow the years ahead.
Moon trine Venus 2:41 AM, Moon conjunct Uranus 4:33 PM, Moon square Saturn 6:29 PM, Moon trine Sun 11:30 PM.
Thursday, September 15: Deal with practicalities and issues that need seriousness and emotional presence in the morning. We may feel at loose ends around noon. Later in the afternoon, the Moon enters Gemini and scatters our focus. Instigate great conversations and explore possibilities, just don’t expect to come to some finite conclusion.
