Sweet Sanctuary

For decades, holistic wellness practices have been brushed aside as ineffective hippie pastimes. Our society’s “pill for an ill” approach to wellness negates the body’s ability to heal itself and the extent to which our mental state affects our health. Most Western medicine is symptom-based, meaning that we treat the manifestations of disease rather than the root problem. Holistic health offers a fresh perspective on overall well-being by focusing on the underlying cause and the mind-body relationship. With this in mind, we created SOTE Sanctuary.

sweet sanctuary for mind body spirit

At SOTE Sanctuary, we recognize the powerful impact that maintaining a balance between mind, body, and spirit can have on our sense of well-being. We strive to provide a safe environment where people can incorporate traditional wellness practices into their everyday lives in order to achieve maximum balance and inner peace. We created our Sanctuary to provide a place where people can experience wellness practices that have been used for centuries.

These practices are making a major comeback in our society as people begin to recognize their value. For example, yoga is a holistic wellness practice scientifically proven to improve physical and mental health. Regular yoga builds muscle strength, improves flexibility, and increases joint mobility. Yoga can prevent and even reverse many physical ailments and diseases. It has also been shown to reduce anxiety and related symptoms. Yoga promotes mindfulness, loving-kindness, compassion, connection with the Divine, our personal interpretation of our Source.

Meditation has been used for centuries to solve the problem of chaotic minds. It reduces activity in the brain’s Default Mode Network, the part of the brain responsible for self-talk and mind wandering. In other words, it quiets the mental chatter that keeps us anxious and distracted. With consistent practice, meditation helps re-train our brains to let go of unwanted or unnecessary thoughts. The result is a calmer mind, helping with things like anxiety, and a calmer nervous system, with countless physical benefits.

Sound healing is a practice that uses vibrations from various instruments to relax the mind and body. The frequency from sound causes a shift in our brainwave using entrainment, external stimuli, such as light or sound, to bring brainwaves into harmony that are otherwise out of sync. Proponents and researchers say sound healing can realign our brainwaves to a state of homeostasis, and the resulting relaxation can improve things like anxiety and insomnia. Some research suggests that sound can improve physical conditions like cholesterol and blood pressure.
