The month of February often brings frigid temperatures and the heaviest snowfalls of the year in the Northern Hemisphere which give us February’s full moon’s name the Snow Moon. As the last full moon of the winter, this moon signifies a turning point in not only the seasonal cycle but within us. It reminds us that even in the cold dark times we carry the spark of warmth within that can keep us going.

As a reminder of cycles, this moon asks us to look to the future and begin preparations for those changes. What do you want to grow and bring to fruition? Do those things need any extra attention right now? What needs to be prepared and nurtured before those seeds can be planted, and then what type of care will those seeds need, can this Snow Moon nourish those goals, snow will melt into water that could water your seeds later.
A great moon ritual you can do this month is gather some snow into a mason jar and let that snow/or melted snow sit in the moonlight so you have Snow Moon water to use throughout the summer to help you focus on your goals and increase your chances of being successful.
This Snow Moon will happen in the sign of Leo, the fiery Lion. Leo asks you what your passion is. What makes you feel creative? What sparks you with happiness? Leo reminds us that our self-expression, and confidence may have retreated during the cold and dark months of winter and that’s okay, but it’s time to remerge into spring with the enthusiasm of a lion. It’s time to stand tall and confident in your talents, and passions. It’s time to follow your dreams with the fierceness of a lion or lioness and have fun with your pride.
If you don’t have snow in your area this full moon is a great time to place your crystals in the moonlight, begin any projects you have been wanting to do but haven’t had the time to start, and if weather permits take a few moments to roar at the moon, or do a little dance to connect with the Leo Snow Moon.
