Amid the Dust, Art is in Full Bloom Inside this Linden Hills Gallery

Everett & Charlie Art Gallery celebrates its 6th Year with June 6 Fundraiser Event

MINNEAPOLIS – May 9, 2024 – Linden Hill’s vibrant intersection of 43rd and Upton became a veritable construction zone last month as the City of Minneapolis and Metro Transit begin overhauling sewer lines and bus stops. The summer-long project already has put a damper on local businesses.

But one local art gallery owner is growing hope amid the rubble, sowing wildflowers in her boulevard planter and displaying large original art with nature-centric subjects in her window.

“There’s a blooming trend in art,” says Everett & Charlie owner and curator Suzie Marty. “People want to connect with the natural world, and we’re seeing a growing interest in flora, fauna and landscapes.”

Marty, one of Minneapolis’ most prolific local-artist advocates, is celebrating the gallery’s 6th year, hosting a fundraiser to support the business, and the more than 50 local artists she represents.

The June 6 event takes place 5 to 9 p.m. at the event space above Everett & Charlie and Wild Rumpus, and will feature live music, a silent auction, guest artists, food and beverages. Entrance fee is $20.

Marty adds that the Linden Hills Neighborhood Council also is working hard to keep pedestrian traffic flowing during construction. Throughout May, the Council is encouraging residents to “Walk, Bike or Roll to Linden Hills,” offering weekly gift cards and other prizes from local businesses as incentives.
