Starcodes week of August 23-29, 2024

We’ll see the first few leaves turn autumnal gold and think about our fall schedule under this Virgo Sun and with Venus in Virgo as the weekend begins. We can see the work we need to do politically, personally, and in our garden. We can make plans but need to keep them loose and adjustable for the next few weeks, Mercury is still so very retrograde and the landscape is changing.

Mercury will turn direct by the end of the week, soon momentum will be much easier to build. Meanwhile, Virgo calls us to harvest our efforts, complete what we’ve begun, and sort the wheat from the chaff or the nutrients from the crap, in all the metaphors. Virgo is the sign associated with our guts and is symbolized by a woman holding a sheaf of grain. We need to not focus on what we release, but on what we want to absorb instead.

Keep an extra eye out for mishaps around transportation; play it safe this week. With Mercury retrograde we’re prone to minor mechanical misfunctions and major misconceptions just when Virgo energy can bring out our critical edge. Instead let’s lean into Virgoan empathy, compassion, and efficiency. We could be amazed by wild events and grand statements or need to wrangle some silly logistical snafus as Mercury slows down and prepares to turn direct on Wednesday. Be patient, soak up the last of summer on this last full week of August.

Mercury retrograde also brings a few gifts, like reconnection with what and who feeds our hearts. Mercury retrograde can also make three wrongs equal a right, sometimes a strange apparent mishaps turn out to bring unusually fortuitous results.

The weekend begins on a wild and busy note as the Moon in Aries trines Mercury; expect grand inspiring or inflaming statements, whether it’s great dinner conversation or ranting political speech. Mercury sextiles Mars and trines Chiron, Venus quincunx Chiron and the Moon conjunct Chiron; all these aspects to the asteroid Chiron urge us to look at our sore points, both historic memories and personal ones, places where you know what went wrong in the past and now have some idea about how to progress forward.

Friday evening the Moon enters settled Taurus and encourages us to rest up and tend to ourselves this weekend. Sunday night the Moon enters verbal Gemini and the conversation engages. Early next week Venus trines Uranus and we are searching for something new. We still can’t move very fast and need to watch out for accident.

Mercury retrograde symptoms often get worse before they get better, the energy swirls along with emotional confusion and easily-hurt feelings as the Moon enters emotional Cancer on Wednesday while Mercury appears to hold still and Venus opposes confusing Neptune. If anything goes wrong or the emotions get strange, the best thing we can do is hold still and take a deep breath. The rough edges being to soften late on Wednesday as Mercury turns direct, and more so on Thursday as Venus enters Libra.

Friday, August 23: Engage a busy day; several aspects bring a swirl of conflicting energies and we choose where we tune in as busy, difficult, rebellious, restless, enthusiastic, and irritable threads need sorting. We are reminded repeatedly over the next few days that we’ve been through much of this before and have what it takes to figure out where to go next. If only we can remember the lessons. Tonight, the conversation stays active and full of debate as Mercury sextiles Mars, but we can choose to kick back and make it comfortable.

Moon sextile Mars 5:21 AM Mercury trine Chiron 6:20 AM, Moon trine Mercury 6:44 AM, Moon conjunct Chiron 6:45 AM, Venus quincunx Chiron 5:56 PM, Moon enters Taurus 6 PM, Moon squares Pluto 6:16 PM, Moon trine Sun 8:22 PM, Mercury sextile Mars 10:30 PM.

Saturday, August 24: Use this healing day to catch up and make sure all is on track. Wisdom we gained the hard way now comes in handy as Mars sextiles Chiron. Even if it just reminds us to not repeat that old situation. Tend the practical things and indulge in a healing way. Don’t push forward, let progress unfold organically.

Mars sextile Chiron 12:33 PM, Moon sextile Saturn 10:46 PM.

Sunday, August 25: Morning can be grumpy and delay-filled as the Moon squares Mercury, let people run at their own pace. Co-ordinating a group will feel like herding cats. Afternoon flows with camaraderie and connection as the Moon trine Venus. Tonight, our brains want to engage deep ideas and idealistic possibilities as the Moon enters verbal, nervy Gemini and trines Pluto.

Moon square Mercury 7:24 AM, Moon trine Venus 1:03 PM, Moon sextile Neptune 7:40 PM, Moon enters Gemini 9:03 PM, Moon trine Pluto 9:16 PM.

Monday, August 26: Watch for accidents around transportation. We can be nervy, edgy, a bit out of sorts or strangely competitive, anxious to get on with things but not quite sure what that looks like. Notice polemics more about how a person feels than what they actually mean; look for an emotional truth underneath busy words and tend to the concerns rather than the content of the words. Tonight, let’s get our sense of humor back on track and enjoy that talkative Gemini Moon.

Moon square Sun 3:25 AM.

Tuesday, August 27: Change is in the air as Venus trines Uranus– whether we’re buying some back- to- school clothes or building excitement about the next stage of our lives. We may not be able to see what it’s going to look like but can feel fresh winds blowing as the Moon conjuncts optimistic Jupiter early this morning, visible before dawn. Expect conversational back and forth midday and a feeling of urgency towards dinner as the Moon conjuncts Mars. Watch out for unnecessary arguments as impatience can make us less emotionally astute. Let’s check our understanding and lead with kindness.

Venus trine Uranus 1:23 AM, Moon square Saturn 3:01 AM, Moon conjunct Jupiter 5:50 AM, Moon sextile Mercury 11:17 AM, Moon conjunct Mars 5:59 PM, Moon trine Venus 11:50 PM.

Wednesday, August 28: The energy swirls in place, building momentum but not leaping forward. Important decisions hover in the air. Be patient. We can easily project our feelings, our hopes, fears, or frustrations onto others as Venus opposes Neptune; rather than assume, let’s ask their motivation and what they intend. Mercury turns direct at 3:313 pm MDT; by the evening we can begin to straighten things out and offer heartfelt assurance as the Moon enters Cancer, maybe even laugh about some recent snafus.

Moon square Neptune 1:13 AM, Moon enters Cancer 2:47 pm, Moon sextile Sun 1:50 PM, Venus opposes Neptune 2:24 PM, Mercury turns direct 3:13 PM.

Thursday, August 29: The log jam softens now as Mercury is direct, appearing to move forward, Venus enters its own friendly sign of Libra and trines intense Pluto. Some early event could call us to our heart and remind us of our priorities. Spend the rest of the day sorting out, straightening out mis-directions, and preparing to launch forward. Engage a chance to offer an Olive branch and make peace with one another or finally use goodwill to get things happening.

Venus enters Libra 7:22 AM, Venus trine Pluto 8:31 AM, Moon trine Saturn 9:57 AM.
