“And what happens when the Prince rescues the Princess from the evil tower? She rescues him right back.” From the movie, Pretty Woman.
The same could be said of Shannon Tarr and the dogs she rescues. Emotional Rescue, created by Shannon in 2017, located in Hastings, Minnesota, is her heart work.
The dogs that find their way to Shannon are the hard cases: abused, neglected, starved, shot, dumped, abandoned. The one thing they all have in common is “The Whisper”. The whisper Shannon hears in her heart when she knows there’s a dog out there, calling to her.
Shannon’s joyful warrior life exemplifies “The Call”. That call, that whisper we feel inside when we know we can make a difference. Just like Shannon, we joyfully take up work that we know will be hard or tough, but needs to be done. And we know we have the tool kit, the determination to make things – yes, even magic, happen!
For Shannon and her network of volunteers, foster families, veterinarian care, and close friends, the task is rescuing, rehabilitating, and adopting dogs into loving, forever homes. The dogs rescue right back with their unconditional love.
Where do we find our “joyful warrior”? Where do we find the rescue that rescues us right back? What are we called on, or whispered, to do? Think of those times when we found an opportunity to go above and beyond and how much more we got back from our effort than we gave. Shannon Tarr’s Joyful Warrior work is saving dogs. What is our special work? The work that hears a Whisper, and we know for certain we will be rescued right back.
When we have a “Soul Talk” with ourselves, we learn what is really important to us. We drill down on what matters, and why it matters. We learn that when something lights a fire in our hearts and minds, we are pulled into action. We are pulled into reaching out, and becoming involved with things that are bigger than ourselves. We look to our personal Heros, what they have done, and how we can be more like them. We gravitate toward people, places, and things that raise us up, and help us along in our ventures and adventures.
As Human Beings, we have the ability to make choices of how we spend our time and our resources. Indeed, our choices are what makes up the sum of our lives. A Warrior becomes focused on “The Important”. The Joyful Warrior sees the exciting challenge of the possible, and how She can contribute to amazing outcomes. To rescue, and be rescued right back.
Take the time to meet your “Joyful Warrior”. Just like Shannon Tarr, you will be living your Mission, and the Universe will be a better place because to cared and you acted.
