Starcodes week of November 1-7, 2024
I feel hopeful about the future of this country for good astrological reasons. I never call an election as I am not objective enough to read it clearly, certainly not this time. But I can sense the country’s trajectory, and we look to be heading in a fresh, if also dangerous, direction. Either the outcome of this election will produce good results, or it will inspire people to work hard to recreate America. We’ll need that fresh start for the challenges ahead, for climate change and world unrest as Neptune and Saturn enter Aries during 2025-2027.
Our country, and the whole world, is not interested in passively accepting an oppressive situation. The Sun is at its maximum in its roughly 11-year cycle of activity, shooting off flares which stimulate Aurora Borealis and heat up action here on earth, like heat to popcorn. It inspires our search for fresh answers. Solar maximums bring a time of political unrest, revolution or revitalization. The Sun was at an unusually quiet and long minimum of activity during 2017- 2020.
Our country went through its first Pluto return during 2020-2023, when Pluto returned to its position during the American Revolution, bringing a challenging reassessment of how we use power, political, electrical, and military power, here in our country. On November 19 Pluto leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius where it will be for the next few decades. Pluto in Aquarius calls us to work more collectively, to take into consideration the dangers of the crowd and honor the voice and needs of the people. It also brings the first Pluto return for our Constitution – 2032-34 (only 8-10 years) which offers both a challenge and a chance to revivify our relationship to this vision statement.
Last March the USA experienced a progressed New Moon in Pisces. A progressed New Moon occurs once every roughly 28.5 years and moves forward one sign at a time. This was our first progressed New Moon in Pisces since our country’s inception and brought a low-energy, potentially inspired but with truth fogged by fantasy and conspiracy theories, uncertain point in our country’s evolution. We’ve just begun a new cycle. This cycle picks up momentum when our progressed Moon enters Aries in early December. This can bring our feistiness to the front but also revivify us, call in revolutionary ideas, and help our country bravely begin.
This weekend begins on Friday with a new Moon in spooky Scorpio, resonating with Halloween vibes, asking us to under the rocks and face our deepest desires and worst fears. Venus and Mars, the planets we associate with Yin and Yang, feminine and masculine, or animus and anima, both oppose major planets this weekend a pattern which acts out in our political headlines.
Mars, in its most defensive sign of Cancer, opposes powerful Pluto, a combination that can both disempower Mars and turn the volume up on all fights and political struggles, but also ask us to clarify what we want and work towards what we hold dear. This difficult Mars energy can also accidentally undermine old power structures.
This Mars-Pluto opposition perfects on the last degrees of Capricorn and Cancer, Mars and Pluto both progress into their next sign, Leo and Aquarius respectively, and oppose again on January 3rd, three days before the presidential election is certified by Congress, and then once more in April. Ongoing Mars issues of war, anger, desire, power struggles, heroism, and excitement for the future resonate all winter long.
The Scorpio energy begins to shift as Mercury enters Sagittarius and Mars enters Leo over the weekend which can reveal something hidden, express drama where things go wrong and a hell of a party where things go right.
Midweek a competent if manipulative Capricorn Moon can help clear up confusion and uncertainty — but watch the spin doctors. Let’s hold our vision for where intend to steer the ship, however long it takes to get there.

Friday, November 1: Don’t bug anybody or ask them to smile unless they feel like it. Instead, introspect under this edgy, curious, snarky new Moon in Scorpio. Don’t waste time on resentment, anxiety, or blame, though it can be tempting; take personal responsibility and plan for a transformative future. Analyze hopes and fears rather than project them onto the world. The Scorpio Moon can leave us snarky and difficult or macabre, but it can also help us explore mystery and come to a new and deeper understanding.
Moon conjuncts Sun 6:46 AM, Moon trine Saturn 1:19 PM.
Saturday, November 2: We have the opportunity to understand and heal with our honesty, to speak our truth as Jupiter sextiles Chiron while Mercury and the Moon both trine Mars, sextile Pluto- then enters Sagittarius. Look for hints of future potential– engage this great evening for divination, ceremony, phone banks, and Halloween parties. Dance the night away. But with all this wild-card action, any event can go in any direction, so prioritize safety and steer towards dynamically healing interactions.
Jupiter sextile Chiron, 2:07 AM MDT, Mercury trine Mars 2:21 AM, Mercury sextile Pluto, 9:02 AM, Mercury enters Sagittarius, 1:17 PM, Moon opposed Uranus 3:05 PM, Moon trine Neptune. 6:19 PM, Moon trine Mars. 10:39 PM, Moon sextile Pluto. 10:50 PM, Moon enters Sagittarius 11:19 PM.
Sunday, November 3: Expect shenanigans in the headlines. That troublesome Mars-Pluto opposition peaks and brings out the best and worst of power dynamics. Venus opposes Jupiter and can open our heart or stimulate extreme emotions, bring both great appreciation for feminine energy and the potential for flaring resentment towards women. Prioritize safety and a balance of power- within and without. Mars enters Leo tonight and we’ll need to feel seen and heard.
Moon conjunct Mercury 12:36 AM MDT, Mars opposed Pluto 4:37 AM MST, Venus opposed Jupiter 8:24 AM, Venus trine Chiron 9:21 AM, Mars enters Leo 9:09 PM. Moon square Saturn, 11:18 PM.
Monday, November 4: A breath of stability comes in a crazy week as the Sun trines Saturn and asks us what will really work in a time otherwise filled with contradictions. Some people will act out as Mars in Leo lingers in its opposition to Pluto, they may throw hissy fits if they feel out of the loop or unappreciated and violence is not impossible. Counter to that the Moon conjuncts Venus in Sagittarius offering an outspoken, potentially positive, even visionary influence.
Sun trine Saturn10:35 AM MST, Moon opposed Jupiter 1:32 PM, Moon conjunct Venus 4:50 PM.
Tuesday, November 5: Expect a busy last-minute campaign. Overnight the Moon squares Neptune and exposes our hopes and fears. Morning mobilizes us as the Moon enters industrious Capricorn; systems activate, they are working and in place but may need protection. Delays can complicate. It will further us to stay busy and accomplish, channel anxiety and impatience into competence and kindness.
Moon square Neptune 3:23 AM, Moon enters Capricorn 8:17 AM
Wednesday, November 6: Sane-making aspects can help us get organized, put things into place, count if counting still needs to be done, organize and to make decisions about our future as the Moon sextiles Saturn and the Sun this morning, then trines Uranus this evening. This is true for all sides, watch for political maneuvers and interpersonal manipulations. Stay on target.
Moon sextiles Saturn 8:16 AM MST, Moon sextile Sun 12:11PM.
Thursday, November 7: The world can feel unsettled this morning as the Moon conjuncts Pluto then enters Aquarius. Midday can be frustrating unless we take necessary action as the Moon opposes Mars. People may need to release charged emotions after an anxious week, but we don’t have to take it out on one another. Later in the day, revivify the creative process as Venus quincunx Uranus, return to some personal creative or social endeavor that got put on hold by world events. Be careful about making sudden decisions, think through those impulses, but maybe hair does need to go purple.
Moon trine Uranus 8:07 AM MST, Moon sextile Neptune 11:12 AM, Moon conjunct Pluto 3:37 PM, Moon enters Aquarius 3:57 PM, Moon opposed Mars 6:15 PM, Venus quincunx Uranus 7:20 PM.
