Starcodes for the week of August 1-7, 2025
A symphony of astrological signals dances and spins us in the crosswinds. Mercury is so very retrograde, which can slow our minds down enough to drink mint juleps in the pleasant shade and help us catch up on unfinished work, but anything else may take extra effort, extra time, or leave a trail of mistakes and frayed nerves. Mercury turns direct August 11; our brain function and forward motion will pick up and barrel us towards a busy autumn. But this week, in the heat of the summer, slow, and easy is the safest way to go.
Not that we’ll always have that opportunity. That symphony of astrological signals can keep us on our toes with unexpected agenda which underlines this year’s big sweeping changes. Between last December and next spring five major outer planets change signs, a most unusual pattern and one which synchronizes with a real turning point in history. We see this reflected in tectonic plates shifting, climate change, politics, the shift of America’s priorities and relevance, the infiltration of AI, all changing our landscape in ways we can only begin to imagine so far.
Because they have just changed signs, Uranus, Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto are all now between zero and two degrees of their signs (each sign has 30°), Jupiter just changed signs a few months ago but is already passed those early degrees. When any other planet changes sign, which the Moon does every 2 1/2 days and Venus and Mars do this week, they strike complex chords with those four outer planets; each aspect rings note and dials in different instructions. If we feel we’re getting mixed signals from the universe, we’re right. Take it one step at a time but play each decision with an eye for the long haul.
Uranus, Saturn, and Neptune retrograde back into their last signs this autumn and hit these points again next spring.
As the weekend begins, Venus – which just entered sensitive Cancer a day ago – strikes this chord as it squares Saturn and Neptune, quincunx Pluto, and semi-sextiles Uranus. This can set off layers of feelings, trust issues, strong connection, yet with communications issues. Our imagination is strong, and plans can change frequently.
We’ve experienced a recent spurt of departures to the far shores, heart-hurting deaths and deportations, since the end of June – as first Mercury and then the Sun opposed Pluto. This week Venus quincunx Pluto. We need time to remember someone who’s left this earth recently or see a continued exodus or become painfully aware of death and danger around the globe. The Moon sets off those complex symphonic chords again on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday the days it changes signs. The days in-between could bring clearer messages. In the crosscurrents of these layered astrological notes, at times we just need to sit still and let the winds roll by and then ask ourselves to cope.
Meanwhile, Mercury is so very retrograde, appearing to slow down until it turns direct next week. Watch out for technical snafus, lawn mower breakdowns, transportation oddities, and mixed signals that need clarification. Be kind to one another around simple klutziness- trips, falls, an accidental flinging of a coffee cup. If these small snafus start to pile up, move slower, or stop for a minute and recenter.

Friday, August 1: Rolling moods like a storm sweeping over the prairies. Expect contradictions, cross currents as the introverted Scorpio Moon brings out our internal snark while it squares outgoing Leo Sun and Mercury. Our trust issues can get easily triggered as Venus in introspective home-loving Cancer squares Saturn and Neptune; our suspicions sharpen towards friends and politicians alike. It’s vital that our words and actions match; be honest about a need for privacy rather than ghost someone. We can notice personal habits that isolate us, how our internal contradictions can send mixed messages to the world about what we want or are ready for in relationship. Words can collide tonight, just simple presence with one another helps.
Moon square Mercury 4:56 AM, Moon square Sun 6:41 AM, Venus square Saturn 7:33 AM, Moon trine Jupiter 11:25 AM, Venus square Neptune 2:48 PM, Venus quincunx Pluto 11:45 PM.
Saturday, August 2: Venus quincunx Pluto and Mars quincunx Chiron underline what makes our hearts sore. Take room for obsessive thoughts. We don’t have to fix everything at once but may get important clues on the next part of our healing path. Be careful not to jump to conclusions, some information comes through in a symbolic form rather than literal, so let’s see what events and thoughts might mean if we interpret them like a dream rather than like a menu. Let actions be miniature healing ceremonies. Tonight, explore a mystery; give minds a good challenge to dive deep as the Scorpio Moon sextiles Mars and Virgo.
Mars quincunx Chiron 3/24 AM, Moon sextile Mars 7:06 PM.
Sunday, August 3: Hypocrisy gets exposed, honesty is treasured. The mood changes hour to hour as an upbeat Sagittarius Moon forms a grand trine with Mercury and Sun on one corner and Saturn and Neptune on the other. Together they ask to walk our talk, live our philosophy in an integrated, active, and authentic way. Brainstorm together about how to make that so.
Moon enters Sagittarius 12:01 AM, Moon opposed Uranus 1:59 AM, Moon trine Saturn 3:07 AM, Moon trine Neptune 3:54 AM, Moon sextile Pluto 4:45 AM, Moon square Mercury 1:59 PM.
Monday, August 4: Hurry up and wait, feel the pressure to rush work as aspects push us to travel and move forward, but remember slow and thoughtful wins this race. Watch crazy thoughts and stay grounded, stay in the moment, and respond wholeheartedly with competence and integrity, and an eye for humor and possibilities as the Sun semi-sextiles Jupiter.
Moon trine Sun 12:11 AM, Sun semi-sextile Jupiter 8:43 AM.
Tuesday, August 5: We need sweet but honest talk as Mercury semi-sextiles Venus around an irritable Moon-Mars square. Mixed messages may be an accurate but confusing portrayal of feelings, so be kind and ask more questions rather than make assumptions. Watch for an irritable edge first thing this morning, then be ready to be as competent as possible in the moment without making too many promises about the future. Problem-solve creatively, stand in personal authority, and neither participate in nor give into blatant manipulation as the Moon enters Capricorn and squares Saturn and Neptune.
Mercury semi-sextile Venus 3:08 AM, Moon square Mars 9:28 AM, Moon enters Capricorn 11:03 AM, Moon square Saturn 1:53 PM, Moon square Neptune 2:44 PM.
Wednesday August 6: Conflicting feelings or practical demands can pull us from our hearts’ desires. We might just want to sit by a stream and not go to work. Mediate or take turns between conflicting demands and desires rather than just get stuck between. Respond wholeheartedly to this personal experience, stay in the present moment, and respond with competence and integrity, a sense of humor, and an eye for possibilities as the Sun semi-sextiles Jupiter.
Moon opposed Venus 12:38 AM, Moon opposed Jupiter 11:39 AM, Mars enters Libra 5:23 PM.
Thursday, August 7: Stay situationally alert and aware of the crosswinds. Mars forms a grand trine with Uranus and Pluto and calls for sweeping action, while Mercury retrograde insists we keep it slow and careful. Work towards a breakthrough on creative projects as the waxing Aquarius Moon aspects Uranus, Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto, stirring all sorts of emotions tonight. Old wounds can get triggered, so if turmoil arises, step away and let the dust settle; let people return to the present moment before trying to solve the problem.
Moon enters Aquarius 7:17 PM, Moon square Mars 8:35 PM, Moon trine Uranus 9:19 PM, Moon sextile Saturn 9:48 PM, Moon sextile Neptune 10:42 PM, Moon conjunct Pluto 11:25 PM.
