Wake up, reimagine, understand the new assignments, then lay the new foundations.
We wake up from a dream as Neptune, retrograde since July, turns direct on Wednesday. But whether that dream was a nightmare or a case of magical thinking where the problems could be solved with a lottery ticket, or a deep desire for our political problems to be temporary and we can go back in time – that will be personal. Don’t get carried away, but we need to let go of an illusory hope or a fear to perceive this moment more clearly and deal with this world in all its danger and great potential.
That doesn’t mean we’re stuck in harsh reality, but we do need to deal with the world with clear eyes, then consciously engage our imagination for respite and vision, just be aware of the difference.
Friday begins while we’re still recovering from the nervy energy of the recent Gemini full Moon. Bring in those dancing sugar plum fairies and enjoy the glittering snow through this weekend as thoughtful Mercury in Scorpio perfects a grand trine to Jupiter in Cancer on one side, and Saturn and Neptune in Pisces on the other corner. Dream, do ceremony, decorate, enjoy the eggnog, and re-envision the world for a spring transformation. Saturn, Mercury, and soon Neptune are all now direct and the work will pick up speed. Keep an eye on the weather – all these watery planets dancing together can stimulate heavy storm patterns that get stuck in place.
The Sun, Venus, Mars (and by the end of the week, Mercury) are all in spicy, restless, outspoken, impulsive, but not necessarily introspective Sagittarius, and Mars is moving into a square with Saturn and Neptune. Sagittarius promotes frank honesty, though our first job is to be honest with ourselves. While the water-sign grand trine with Mercury – still Scorpio – brings more reserve, old memories, deeper feelings, secrets, resentments, and the potential for compassion leading to wisdom.
As Mars squares Saturn and Neptune over the week, notice any tension dissolving between the young bucks and old guard, between our inner adolescent and our wise older selves, or between the military leadership and the Saturnine rules and restraints. The balanced truth is balanced in between. Mars also conjunct the partnership asteroid Juno and asks us to be more honest but kind in our relationships and give each other loving room.
Over the weekend, all this is tinted with a deep feeling, cozy-loving Cancer Moon which asks us to bake cookies, decorate our nest, or cuddle into some emotional work. Take some personal time for whatever the heart needs.
Dive back into life early next week as the outgoing Leo Moon trines Venus, the Sun, and Mars in spicy Sagittarius. Expect some changes in our attitudes and plans as Mercury first trines thoughtful, heavy Saturn, approaches an opposition to change-inducing Uranus, then trines intuitive, imaginative Neptune (as it stations to turn direct) – all in that grand trine but each emphasizing a different note as it perfects. It will bring a busy time for important news, tough realities that take our competent response, and an opportunity to wake up and adjust our vision or direction to help us onto that next step.
We get down to the nuts and bolts of this next chapter on Wednesday as the Virgo Moon squares all planets in Sagittarius. Feel some nerves wind up, if we get anxious or imagine things could be worse than they are, let’s reel that imagination back in, be realistic but do not hypothesize ahead of the facts. Just come back and make things better one step at a time.
Friday, December 5: This busy day brings many potential interruptions or minor delays, but we can stay on target with attention and roll with the opportunities as the Moon opposes Mars and squares Saturn, and Mars trines Chiron. Take an opportunity to let go of frustration at the world long enough to do some personal or interpersonal healing this afternoon. Listen to the soul for what is needed. Tonight, as the Moon enters Cancer, work though a moment of self-consciousness and offer comfort, reassurance, and cozy food.

Saturday, December 6: Our defenses trigger easily, so don’t push people. Where we feel safe, we’re open to new ideas and new possibilities as Mercury trines Jupiter- as long as those ideas don’t come off as critique. Don’t poke at our tender places, we need safety to open up. Offer coziness. We may need to mull over memories as we pull out holiday decorations. Visit the past, come back to who we were decades ago, and remember who we can be decades from now.

Sunday, December 7: This is an emotionally busy day with potential roller coasters of feelings. Work around strangely competitive energy as Mars quincunx Jupiter this morning. Pay extra attention to avoid accidents caused by speed or temper. Let the heart open in generosity as the Moon conjuncts Jupiter midday. Ride a pragmatic wave and handle logistics, engage traditions, and communicate important understandings this afternoon as Mercury and the Moon trine Saturn. Tonight brings celebrations with thoughtful undertones, with some potential situational melodrama, as the Moon enters expressive Leo and opposes Pluto.

Let’s not let our chains be jerked but do listen to truth underneath the story. What we want and what we can have, or what is practical, can be at odds, or we could feel a tug between generations, or the military and the controls, as Mars squares Saturn tonight.

Tuesday, December 9: The energy can build, doors open. Notice where a block has been removed, choose to step forward even though no one pushes as the Leo Moon trines Mars and the Sun. People are generally impatient, no one wants to hear the essay version, so keep comments short, to the point, and appreciative. We get miffy if we don’t feel seen, heard, appreciated, or respected, but soften if we do.

Wednesday, December 10: An odd foggy day, be ready for last minute doubts that show up or a tendency to correct ourselves under a Virgo Moon and as Neptune stations to turn direct while Mercury opposes Uranus. Pay attention and avoid accidents of distraction. Ask good questions, consider alternatives, be willing to change minds for good reasons, but once a clear decision is made, don’t waste time second-guessing. Think of minor difficulties as burning through the karma to make a new decision successful.

Thursday, December 11: Some secrets come out as Mercury trines Neptune and enters outspoken Sagittarius. We can let go of an obsession but also may tend to let go of what we’ve been concentrating upon. Our minds want to roam far and maybe our feet can follow soon afterwards. We need breadth. Consciously engage Neptune and put the imagination to work or consider some form of divination or spiritual practice. Daydreams can be unrealized realities – they offer a map and let us know what we long for, but we have to walk into that map and make it so.
