At the heart of every experience we have is our relationship with ourselves. While it may seem that life is about other people, circumstances, successes, and challenges, each experience is ultimately helping us learn something about who we are.
Every person who enters our life – even the most difficult ones – serves a purpose. They may teach us patience, resilience, self-worth, compassion, healthy boundaries, or the ability to persevere through challenges. Sometimes these individuals remain in our lives for decades, while other times they leave once the lesson has been learned. Neither outcome is right or wrong. What matters is the growth that occurs through the experience.

From a soul perspective, life is a carefully designed opportunity for learning and evolution. Before birth, we review the experiences of previous lifetimes and identify themes we wish to understand more deeply. These themes might involve scarcity, abandonment, self-confidence, addiction, mental health, relationships, or countless other areas of growth.
To support our learning, we choose souls who will help bring these themes to the surface. They become the actors and actresses in our life story, helping us see ourselves more clearly. Many of these souls have traveled with us through multiple lifetimes, returning again so unfinished lessons can be revisited from a new perspective.
We also choose an ancestral line. Through our family system, we inherit not only genetics but also patterns, beliefs, and emotional imprints that may be ready for healing. In many ways, we are not only healing ourselves but also helping to heal the lineage we were born into.
Childhood often becomes the stage where many of these themes first emerge. During our early years, we have little control over our circumstances, making it easier for unresolved patterns to surface. Experiences from infancy, childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood may all contain valuable clues about the lessons our soul intended to explore.
One powerful practice is to revisit different stages of your life with curiosity and compassion. You might reflect on a specific age and ask yourself: What was happening then? How did I feel? What beliefs did I form about myself or the world?
Looking at a photograph from that period can sometimes help reconnect you with the emotions and experiences of that younger self. As you do this, imagine offering comfort, understanding, and support to the child, teenager, or young adult you once were. You may discover that aspects of yourself are ready to be acknowledged, healed, and integrated.
As part of this process, it can be helpful to explore whether a particular challenge has roots in your ancestry, previous lifetimes, or collective human experiences. Understanding the larger context often makes it easier to release old patterns and gain a deeper sense of compassion for yourself.
Healing rarely happens all at once. More often, it unfolds in layers. You may revisit the same age or life experience several times and find that each visit reveals a new perspective. What felt overwhelming years ago may now feel manageable. What once seemed impossible to understand may suddenly make perfect sense.
As you continue your healing journey, ask yourself where you are with a particular lesson. Have you moved beyond old patterns of scarcity? Are you developing greater self-worth? Are you becoming more confident, empowered, or trusting of yourself?
The goal is not perfection. The goal is awareness, growth, and greater freedom.
Most importantly, remember that you do not have to do everything alone. Some challenges benefit from the support of therapists, counselors, coaches, energy practitioners, or other trusted guides. Seeking help is not a sign of weakness – it is often a sign of wisdom.
Every experience, every relationship, and every stage of life offers an opportunity to deepen your relationship with yourself. As you heal old influences and gain new understanding, you create space for greater peace, clarity, and alignment with who you truly are.
Many blessings,
Maureen
