Starcodes for the week of September 4-10, 2026

On the Virgo holiday, Labor Day weekend, we honor the workforce and our work by taking a break, one last summer moment before school and work kick into high gear for the fall. It looks to be a busy, efficient, potentially transformative season ahead, so let’s refill our wells now.

Fiesta week (for those in New Mexico) and Labor Day call for rest and renewal, great parades, and picnics. But this weekend we may be painfully aware of the work that needs doing with both the Sun and thoughtful Mercury now in industrious, observant Virgo. We might rest best not by napping, although that too is wonderful, but by breaking routine and exercising soul muscles not normally used.

It’s good to give our minds something worthy to work upon, because otherwise they can rev up and our nerves get edgy, we can chew on ourselves or others just for something to do with that mental energy. Seek worthy puzzles to keep that edginess out of trouble. Learn something new, work on a personal project, take care of the community and community relations, enjoy traditions, and eat well.

This Virgo line-up helps us think critically but let’s keep that criticality pointed towards analyzing the world’s woes and what we can do about it- and go gently with criticism towards beloveds and neighbors. With Mars now in self-protective Cancer, our defenses can be spectacular. Have faith that, in this Virgo season, most of us are doing our own homework and doing our best. It will work far better to say what’s working for us, and what isn’t, and let them figure out solutions.

Mars now squares Saturn, which can bring some tension between generations, but also some tension between what we want, and what we need to do, between desires and responsibilities. We could see this act out in headlines with generational arguments, with frustration or delays in the military or with militant Mars-like actions. But when we can get that Mars and Saturn to work together, muscles and knowledge, energy and discipline, youth and experience, we can build castles.

The weekend begins under a light, sociable, conversant Gemini Moon. The Moon goes into deeper, more home-and-nutrient oriented Cancer for Saturday and Sunday, good for barbecues and home improvement projects, good for nurturing new talents, but people might be a bit shy. Labor Day itself, the Moon in Leo can bring out our extrovert for the barbeque and gatherings, give us a chance to act out. Discuss issues around labor and care of the workers.

Reconnect with people, meet roommates, and generally interact on Tuesday. The autumnal agenda begins on Wednesday and Thursday as the waning Moon enters Virgo. Feel the shift on Thursday as Mercury leaves Virgo and enters more egalitarian, open minded Libra, just as Venus leaves Libra and enters focused, private Scorpio. People may seem more open, so start the conversation, but it may take longer to open up. Uranus turns retrograde and we can experience a shift in the matrix and find a change we thought inevitable -is not cancelled -but put back on hold for more groundwork. A new Moon in Virgo on Thursday night starts a new chapter in our work, our healing, and our education of all kinds.

Friday, September 4: This beginning of the Labor Day weekend buzzes, bringing scattered energy, interrupted conversations but with a great cross-pollination of ideas and potential fun as the Gemini Moon trines Venus and squares the Sun and Mercury. Keep plans loose and scan for spontaneous opportunities. Don’t hold worry too tightly, sometimes our nerves can wind up anxiously unless we give our minds more fruitful action. Stay involved. Tonight, sleep will be fugitive; enjoy the buzz, and if possible, be in a place to meet and greet new people, new ideas, and fresh opportunities.

Saturday, September 5: The Moon in tradition-loving Cancer calls for a cozy breakfast, familiar traditions, and some social bravery. It’s a good weekend to tend house or community projects, greet old friends, and make overtures to shy folk. Be kind around insecurities acting out as long as they don’t get mean in the process. Food is important today under this Cancer Moon. Talk about food stability and availability. Seek what nurtures on all the levels. Contemplate what we eat, who we eat it with, and make food a gathering point. Shared familiar recipes will be appreciated more than exotics.

Moon square Venus 2:39 AM MDT, Moon enters Cancer 8:30 AM, Moon square Neptune 2:27 PM.

Sunday, September 6: On this more serious morning, tackle something deep and thoughtful. Don’t challenge people’s personal long-held views but do offer a personal perspective. Do not swallow anger with food, spit it out, disagree, bear witness rather than wrestle. Dueling defenses can set off unnecessary arguments this afternoon as the Moon conjuncts Mars but could soften afterwards. Use this defensive impulse to collaborate in defense of a good cause.

Moon square Saturn 6:54 AM MDT, Moon conjunct Mars 1:50 PM.

Monday, September 7: Be aware of world events and contemplate important personal shifts; save the sociable cookout for later in the day. A sociable, agreeable, if stubborn morning initiates a complex, potentially important day as the as the Moon enters Leo. Honor a haunting quality that calls for compassion and protection before the 4:30 PM MDT complex and moody Moon- Pluto opposition. Our mood expands and grows more generous as the Moon trines Neptune and sextiles Uranus tonight. We all need a moment in the spotlight; honor someone with curiosity and attention and it returns manyfold.

Moon sextile Mercury 101 AM MDT, Moon square Venus 7:39 AM, Moon enters Leo 10:49 AM, Moon opposed Pluto 4:31 PM, Moon trine Neptune 4:40 PM, Moon sextile Uranus 8:23 PM.

Tuesday, September 8: Pay attention to personal relationships as Mercury trines the asteroid Juno. We may feel some tension between the time and energy needed in our beloved relationships and what called from us by our work or obligations- and need to find a way to time-share or balance. Let’s not make ourselves smaller for anyone else or smaller to fit in at work, instead take our space and shine, but also acknowledge the shine of others. Appreciation solves a myriad of problems.

Mercury trine Juno 1:25 AM MDT, Moon trine Saturn 9:40 AM, Moon conjunct Jupiter 12:36 PM.

Wednesday, September 9: As if we’ve opened the door on an overstuffed closet, suddenly details of this autumn’s work can pour down in an overwhelming wave as the waning Virgo Moon squares Uranus, squares Uranus, and quincunx Pluto and Neptune. Size up the situation but don’t try to fix it all now. First, take a deep breath, review what’s already been learned, then prioritize, strategize, sort, and accomplish one thing towards those long-range goals. That spilled closet will be managed soon, one step at a time.

Moon sextile Venus 12:57 AM MDT, Moon enters Virgo 1:34 PM, Moon square Uranus 11:21 PM.

Thursday, September 10: The weather patterns shift, and so can our focus and feeling. Uranus turns retrograde and could trigger a swirling in the force, unexpected breaks, or surprising electrical events. Venus enters focused, serious Scorpio lending new depth and power to our feelings but bringing the potential for possessiveness or resentment. For these next few weeks don’t trifle with anyone’s feelings, be honest or be quiet, go deep or go home. Mercury enters Libra and can add diplomacy, bring our thoughts to social justice, but also calm our nerves as it leaves its own sign of Virgo. Ponder what to work on next as the new Virgo Moon at 9:26 PM MDT starts a new chapter in our sense of purpose. Don’t get hooked resisting other people’s vision; instead, we need to create one of our own, one that we’re willing to work on over time.

Venus enters Scorpio 2:06 AM MDT, Mercury enters Libra 10:20 AM, Venus opposes Chiron 11:15 AM, Uranus turns retrograde 12:27 PM, Moon conjuncts the Sun at 18° of Virgo 9:26 PM, Moon sextile Mars 11:51 PM.
