Unlocking the Secrets of Life

“If everyone in society lives in the present moment, if we are able to accept people as they are, there will be no problems, no strife.” — His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

As founder of the Art of Living Foundation (www.artofliving.org) and the International Association for Human Values (www.IAHV.org), Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (www.srisri.org) has inspired a global phenomenon of compassion and service. With a mission to unite the world into a violence-free, stress-free global family, he travels to more than 40 countries a year to share his message that all the great spiritual traditions share common goals and values. His teachings of love, practical wisdom and service promote harmony among people and encourage individuals to follow their chosen spiritual path, while honoring the path of others.

Sri Sri teaches that much of the stress or limitations in life come from the mind vacillating between regret about the past or worry about the future. However, he teaches that the present is the only place that happiness can ever be experienced. His Art of Living course helps participants rediscover the present moment – not as a concept but as a direct experience.

The Art of Living Course instructs participants in the unique breathing-based technique called Sudarshan Kriyaâ„¢, or the healing breath. It incorporates specific natural rhythms of breath to release stress, detoxify and energize the body and bring the mind to the present moment. The course also includes other breathing techniques, meditation, low-impact yoga and skills for dealing effectively with challenging emotions and situations.

People of all traditions, religions and walks of life have taken the Art of Living Course. Several independent studies on the numerous mental and physical health benefits of the course have been published in international peer-reviewed journals and confirm the positive effects that participants commonly report.

With a presence in 150 countries, the Art of Living Foundation is committed to reaching out globally to all places where there is trauma and suffering. As the world’s largest volunteer-led non-government organization, this non-profit organization has improved the quality of life for more than 300 million people around the world.

Known for his deep insight, calming presence and his quick wit, Sri Sri is an invited speaker at various forums all over the world, including European parliament, the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Harvard Divinity School and the United Nations.

The Art of Living’s Twin Cities Chapter serves the community through various seminars, workshops and courses across all nationalities, religions and age groups and has conducted several Yoga Empowerment Seminars for teenagers at leading schools in the Twin Cities and for students at the University of Minnesota. It offers Health and Happiness Workshops every month at various places in the Twin cities.
