Starcodes for the week of November 7-13, 2025
Just in time to help students review for exams and families reminisce on the holidays, Mercury turns retrograde on Sunday, November 9, through November 29, and asks us to review.
Rather than sentimentally romanticizing about the past Look back to what worked in the past and what unfinished business now needs attention. Like pausing before leaving for a journey, Mercury retrograde encourages us to take a deep breath and hold still, remember, review, revisit, edit, repair, and introspect before we proceed onto the next chapter. Not all work needs to stop, actions that should have happened a long time ago could now come to fruition.
It is important to slow down, but that can be difficult as Mercury and Mars now conjunct in outspoken, action-oriented Sagittarius and encourage/nag us to cut bait and move on. Restlessness can make it hard to be patient. If we won’t slow down and contemplate, Mercury can strong-arm us into doing so through mistakes, miscommunications, delays, lost keys, broken objects, unfinished business, emails sent to the wrong person, anything to make sure we’ll move forward thoughtfully and consciously.
But since we still have to live, work, and travel, apply the basic Mercury retrograde survive and thrive skills. Read twice before signing a document, measure three times before cutting. Run all safety checks. Avoid unnecessary travel, but if travel is necessary, confirm reservations, keep important things close and bring a good book for delays. Great opportunities arise in odd places, look to meet a new friend or engage a chance to do good works while waiting for a late plane. Stay spatially aware and don’t ignore the check-engine light.
If minor accidents pile up or the coffee spills on the computer, slow down and get centered before proceeding. Consider taking some time off – even a few hours and actively look within; spiritual retreats can sing under Mercury retrograde.
The weekend begins under a relatively upbeat and talkative Gemini Moon, though with Venus in Scorpio square Pluto, our feelings run deep, and so do our long-range plans. We can talk about anything lightweight but may not want to touch those deeper feelings. Some world events could touch our hearts and make it ache. Recent political or personal events can hit hard, stir old resentments or fears, and we could both need to process those feelings and adjust or future plans accordingly, either to let go what’s come to an end, or kick into gear now that we see which way the wind blows. We’ll have all of this month to contemplate those decisions, so don’t rush this stage. Review, process the emotions, and consider possibilities for the future in light of the past.
Over the weekend a more introspective and home-based Cancer Moon forms an irritating quincunx to both Pluto and Mercury and encourages this look inwards. We could feel touchy, get defensive or shut down when what we really need is rest and clarification. It will further us to take care of our business with our beloveds and get our nest in order. Batten down the garden for winter, follow through on personal promises. If we said we’d take the kids to the zoo, let’s do so. Get right with the world before Mercury retrogrades on Sunday.
Slapstick and drama can become nearly operatic early next week as under the Leo Moon and retrograde Mercury, with both the best and worst of plot lines. Don’t take the bait and move slowly if minor snafus pile up. If tension arises, instead of pouring oil on the fire or jumping to conclusions, get more facts and look at the situation from different perspectives.
Our efforts become more productive as the Moon enters Virgo midweek; make progress on projects in motion. We may not be able to see too far ahead but can apply recent lessons towards the future and deal with what’s already on our plate. Review, renew, reminisce, rest, and prepare.

Friday, November 7: Words can obfuscate an emotional or political truth but still give us information under this verbal Gemini Moon. Confrontation won’t help. Listen on many levels, listen with compassion and skepticism, and don’t accept easy answers. Underneath the words can be a haunted heart that needs support, a feeling that to love it to lose, or love is a power trip, as Venus in Scorpio squares Pluto. Don’t get stuck in the past.

Saturday, November 8: Take care of the home front. Our guts could respond to our emotions and need extra care; a moment listening to the steam of our feelings and cozy healthy food further under the comfort-appreciating Cancer Moon. As Mercury stations, if small delays and mishaps pile up, don’t throw blame nor get defensive if other people get cranky. Slow down and make the most of quiet depth.

Sunday, November 9: The more still we can hold the better it will be as Mercury turns retrograde. Instead of swearing at mishaps or jumping to conclusions, be curious and investigate real mysteries. Ask. Just do so with humility, don’t assume to know the answer or risk missing the whole point. Tonight it can feel wonderful to tell old stories, but do not just reinscribe old pain; remember bits of joy, success, and connection, even if it tugs at the heart.

Monday, November 10: Keep a good sense of humor; listen and respond to the stories but minimize the drama as the Moon enters Leo and opposes Pluto. Wires cross easily and emotional reactions can obfuscate the situation. Respond thoughtfully. Roll with it if some recent efforts need a do-over, use it as an opportunity for improvement. Things flow better this evening as long as we respect each other’s feelings as the Moon trines Mercury.

Tuesday, November 11: Some recent excess gets reprimanded or curtailed as Jupiter turns retrograde. Review clues that were previously ignored. Don’t launch a PR campaign but do notice where the view has been too small and open the horizon. Keep feet firmly planted, don’t be pushed around by sudden winds or bullies.

Wednesday, November 12: Prioritize safety and speak thoughtfully, accidents and angry messes proliferate as retrograde Mercury conjuncts Mars. Look for a second round on an ongoing debate, avoid rancorous words. Ask who is responsible, not just blame, but for repair and clean up. Pushing will only tighten the knots. Edit, pare down, prune trees, release thoughtfully as the Moon squares Uranus then enters Virgo before dinner.

Thursday, November 13: A potentially itchy, tight, difficult mood can be put to good use if we choose a project to fixate upon, something that can be done solo, and perseverate productively. If momentum slows this afternoon, let it: see what new agenda now needs attention. Take a nap if possible, wander though a museum, fill the wells.
