Starcodes for the week of August 7-13, 2026

All this year we see fairly easy daily aspects play out over big, existential, era-changing upheavals, and both realities are true. The world is shifting, people are changing, employment patterns and environmental shifts walk a cliff’s edge, yet our daily lives can have lovely moments when we’re not grappling with these big events. Let these small moments refill the wells, let them feed faith in one another and in our ability to hang in there and make a difference. Renew stamina and joy so we can continue to tackle those bigger questions.

Since Saturn and Neptune both entered feisty, fiery, vital Aries last winter, tempers run hotter, climate change blasts us in the face, some wild animals seem more fierce, and the world seems too ready to start wars. But we can reach the higher note of Aries and find the hero within us all, to be brave enough to save what we can, stand up for what is right, to start over and instigate new solutions.

As the weekend begins, Venus, in its own friendly and equity-seeking Libra, forms a grand trine with Uranus and Pluto, a triangle which echoes all week and opens doors, let’s choose to reach through and create connection. It can bring some real interpersonal and creative breakthroughs if we choose to pursue it or offer just some pleasant moments.

Mercury enters Leo on Sunday and adds to the generally outgoing and sociable week. On Wednesday at 11:36 AM MDT a New Moon/Solar eclipse cast its partial shadow on our country and throws its total shadow in an arc over Greenland through Spain. Eclipses unstick stuck energy; they act like astrological acupuncture. This eclipse points out the paradox around the tension between our healthy need to shine and share our light, and the pain that egocentrism undermines us, not glorifying us, as a country or person. We have to find a healthy balance. Watch how brave generosity or pathological egos act out in the news and put a spin on history. This New Moon in eclipse in Leo can add panache to all performance arts but can also make romance and politics performative versus substantial; be dramatic but keep it real.

The week ends with a lovely Mercury-Venus sextile which can help us share, work together, and help us refill those wells with our community and with loving and creative interactions.

starcodes reading for week of August 7 through 13 by Heather Roan Robbins

Friday, August 7: A Gemini Moon keeps most of the energy light and frothy, verbal with quick comebacks and pointed memes riffing over some heavy material. Feel a potential for change, whether a needed short-term change or long-term adjustments, supporting preparations for a vacation, new semester or term in Congress. Momentum is strong in the morning but needs conscious follow through this afternoon. We could find ourselves back at a place where we traditionally sacrifice ourselves for others and become aware that we need to be as fair to ourselves as we are to others, and vice versa, as Mercury squares Vesta. Enjoy social ferment and potentially great conversations tonight.

Moon enters Gemini 12:07 AM MDT, Moon trine Venus 12:57 AM, Mercury square Vesta 3:35 AM, Moon trine Pluto 6:52 AM, Moon sextile Neptune 7:06 AM, Moon conjunct Uranus 8:51 AM, Moon sextile Jupiter 2:17 PM.

Saturday, August 8: Pay attention to productive overnight dreams and productive interactions both early in the morning and late at night. The Gemini Moon keeps our minds busy and our conversation entertaining, funny and pointed, intensifying as it approaches Mars tonight. We have the gift of multitasking, but if we drop the ball in the process, let’s laugh about it rather than get snarky. Let’s just speak from our whole self, our heart and mind together, rather than let nervous anxiety sharpen our tongue. Ask if it will further before spouting off.

Moon sextile Saturn 12:29 AM MDT, Moon sextile Sun 2:29 AM, Moon conjunct Mars 11:26 PM.

Sunday, August 9: It could be a wonderful domestic day, a homecoming, as long as we take turns and listen; let each person take a turn being the center of the story while the Moon enters cozy Cancer and Mercury enters expressive Leo. Navigate some disagreement on household or communal chores, work out who is taking care of what, and work through disagreement on equitable distribution of responsibilities. Balance control issues around food and food supply, whether personal health issues, household shopping, or large-scale food shortage, as Mars conjuncts the nourishing asteroid Ceres. Relax, be generous, and give people room to spout off (without being abusive) if their adrenaline is up. Help someone find a new home or to feel at home.

Moon enters cancer 1:45 AM MDT, Moon square Venus 6:15 AM, Moon square Neptune 8:30 AM, Mercury enters Leo 10:26 AM, Mars conjunct Ceres 12:06 PM.

Monday, August 10: We could wake up and not want to go to a job with expectations, feel a real resistance to ordinary work. Look for life’s gifts, our Venus needs feeding as Venus poignantly opposes Neptune and trines Pluto instills a desire to live in a magical world, far away from harsh realities, which the world has in abundance. Those harsh realities can feel unusually close and the potential for loss can weigh on us as Mercury approaches an opposition to Pluto over the next couple of days. Stay in the present moment, find the beauty in the moment, let’s notice what we do have- more than what we don’t- and appreciate what each being has to offer. Spiritual practice or time with arts supplies help.

Moon square Saturn 1:30 AM MDT, Venus trine Pluto 12:08 PM, Venus opposed Neptune 4:01 PM.

Tuesday, August 11: We may have a chance to review our history and see old events in a different light. Use this opportunity to reimagine relationships in light of this re-evaluation during this dark of the Moon in Leo. In the present moment, though we might be feeling generous, it can be hard to get out of our own position and truly empathize. But Mercury calls us to do just that, to have compassion, drop our story and listen to how we were perceived, how we affected others, and how we are affecting history, as Mercury opposes Pluto and trines Neptune. Be ready to drop ego and make reparations or acts of forgiveness, or to truly let go of a road that is closed. Mars enters Cancer and we need radical acceptance from the people around us or our defenses quickly prickle. Keep an eye out for both tough news and an inspirational story in the headlines.

Mars enters cancer 2:30 AM MDT Moon enters Leo 2:37 AM, Moon conjunct Mercury 7:40 AM, Moon opposed Pluto 9:03 AM, Moon trine Neptune 9:19 AM, Moon sextile Venus 10:36 AM, Moon sextile Uranus 11 19 AM, Moon conjunct Jupiter 6:01 PM, Mercury opposed Pluto 7:19 PM, Mercury trine Neptune 9:38 PM, Venus trine Uranus 9:45 PM.

Wednesday, August 12: Be prepared for endings and beginnings, a corner turned, a decision made as but whether it’s a good one or not is up to us. Today’s Mercury sextile change-inducing Uranus under the new Moon/eclipse in Leo at 11:36 AM MDT, visible here but only total through Western Europe, along the sites of the recent fires, can help us express and promote ourselves, give us a chance to shine and share generosity. But it can also make it really hard to appreciate others and so exacerbate narcissism and its effect upon the news. The gift of Leo is to say, “I am the center of the universe -and so are you, the divine spark in me honors the divine spark in you.” The danger of Leo is “I am the center of the universe, and you are not.” Share the spotlight.

Moon trine Saturn 2:28 AM MDT, eclipse of the Sun, Moon conjunct Sun 11:36 AM, Mercury sextile Uranus 2:47 PM.

Thursday, August 13: Feel a shift a shift in the wind. The Moon enters Virgo this morning and could bring the first thoughts of school supplies, the first the sight of a turning leaf, the sketches of autumnal plans. But don’t jump too far ahead and so get anxious and get snippy with one another. Do small things to improve life. Keep in sight those long-range plans but stay here to do the work in the present moment. There’s work to be done, but healing happens here and now; this moment and these people are to be appreciated as Mercury sextiles Venus.

Moon enters Virgo 4:17 AM, Moon sextile Mars 6:43 AM, Mercury sextile Venus 10:22 AM, Moon square Uranus 1:23 PM.
