Free Nova screening: The Theosophical Society offers a free showing of the acclaimed Nova documentary “Infinite Secrets: The Genius of Archimedes” at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 18, at Pershing Park Center, 3523 W. 48th St., Minneapolis. A 1991 discovery of lost writings by Archimedes, the ancient Greek mathematician, reveals surprisingly original concepts, theories and revelations that could have reshaped our world. One document that seemed irretrievably lost for 2,200 years was his final treatise, “The Method,” which reputedly explained how he achieved his amazing results – secrets he revealed nowhere else. Experts and scientists now believe this treatise might have greatly impacted Renaissance thinkers, if it had been available to them at that time. Join a discussion after the film.
