Health Renaissance

Health is the most vital aspect of our lives. Those currently in charge of health
are feeling overwhelmed. A recent New York Times editorial quoted one physician,
Saeed Siddiqui: "I love being a doctor but I hate practicing medicine." Seemingly, a significant majority of those currently "responsible" for our health feel that the American medical system has become just a sweatshop. How sad and worrisome that medical care is at the point that the emphasis is more on "wealth" than "health."

It is easy to put the blame on the medical profession, the drug companies, the insurance companies, the institutions of care, etc., but the truth is that we, as a nation, have given these "institutions" their power and authority. Very simply, we created the "health" – or lack of it! The time has come to reclaim our power, take back responsibility for our health, be active participants, be aware of our bodies and in charge of the care given this sacred vessel that is our body.

The physician’s responsibility is to diagnose, consult and give options. Then the decision is ours. In general, medical attention is superb in acute and emergency situations. In chronic diseases, emergency medicine is not likely to solve the basic problem. If what is being recommended in such situations does not ring true for our body, it is time to seek other choices. If each of us makes the choice of health, it will ripple out to change the health of the nation.

We are all Divine beings with a Divine purpose – perfect as we are – but we were given "choice" as how we maintain healthy bodies.

My goal is to offer choices for obtaining and maintaining good health for all.

Consider, then, these essential
health habits
:

• No smoking.
• Body
Mass Index of 18 to 24. If you are 10 pounds overweight, you will probably
do fine. As the pounds increase, so do the risks of most diseases and of early
death. Go to the internet and look up the charts. It’s easy to do!
• At
least 5 servings of fruits or vegetables daily
• Exercise
a minimum of 30 minutes 5 days a week

Embrace health with:

• Responsibility for and caring for your body.
• An
attitude of gratitude for being alive and having the choice of habits
• Choosing
to be healthy in all areas of your life.

We do not need more physicians! We need more competent health practitioners: teachers, motivators, trainers and coaches of health. These practitioners are solidly grounded in the principles and practice of abundant health on all levels – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. They are equipped to shepherd, coach, encourage and teach individuals taking responsibility for seeking real health care. "Healthy health" does not require drugs or surgery. It requires simple personal responsibility for choices of habits and life style!
