Card of the Week – June 21, 2022

Tarot from Conscience (or the Traveling Moth)

A space for tarot reflection for the day, week, or moment it comes across your screen. Each of these is reworked intentionally for The Edge, from the egregore of GroupTarot’s Card of the Week, to center education, diversity, and intuition.

Happy Solstice!

I hope you all also had a wonderful Pride, Father’s Day, Juneteenth this weekend as well!

Usually, I march in the parade, whether with my union, theatre company, or friends. This year was different.

I gave my body and psyche a good deep scan with the question, what will nourish me most today? (Thanks for the question, Theresa Pridemore! The question was from Sovereign Spirit’s mailing list.)

I realized, with the amount of crowds and work I’d done last week, noting where my body was feeling achy, knowing the huge amounts of people I’ll be around this week and most of the summer, I’m not actually as much of an extrovert as I used to think I was. Or maybe I’ve just become more introverted due to the pandemic and getting older.

What actually felt like a balm for my soul was going to the farmers market, having breakfast, pulling a card for y’all, taking a nap, having a fantastic dinner with friends, and hot tubbing while looking at the clouds.

I hope you take time this week to add the question – will this nourish me? – to your decision making processes.

In honor of Pride this weekend, Pride Tarot gives us
Knight of Pentacles reversed

Fascinating. This feels sooooo much more like the Knight of Cups to me, with all of it’s blues, Trans pride, jellyfish with pentacles on their bells, riding a unicorn sea-horse…

It’s different for me to think about Earth (pentacles) being under water, even though sand is land, coral and fish and animals are made of matter, Earth.

This card has a very Earth of Water/Water of Earth feeling.

Aka, mud and mudslides.

This may be a week to look at what’s muddy in your life, literally and metaphorically. One practice I love, which participants of New Moon Group Tarot are familiar with – next one coming up soon! June 28th room opens at 7:30pm Pacific – is to place what you want to bring into your body into a glass of water with three intentional breaths.

Then drink the water, bringing that energy intentionally into you. Feeling it be carried throughout your whole body, as you hydrate.

Maybe you want to bring in clarity, stillness, nourishment, love, pride, acceptance, or something else.

Regardless, the inversion reminds us that we can’t feed from an empty plate. That self care, soul care, nourishment, are priorities.

It doesn’t matter that the current over culture and patriarchy and toxic masculinity and capitalism try to convince us otherwise.

Self care, soul care, and nourishment, are priorities.

I created a YouTube video, sharing which card’s energy wants to help us flip this Knight of Pentacles right side up.

Check it out and do remember to subscribe.

And because it bears repeating:
You deserve comfort.
You deserve to feel safe.
You deserve to be nourished in all the ways that are fulfilling for you.

May those blessings be infused by the Strength of the Sun on this longest day.
