So, the final Theatre Oracle Card for December. We were given:
Gloves
For those of us in the Global North, there’s a very practical tip, remember your gloves this winter. Given the huge snows that have already hit the Midwest, it’s quite apt.
The gloves in this card are work gloves though, so there is also the very practical, protect your hands. From the elements, from splinters.
This pair of gloves literally saved the ring finger of my left hand. The injury I sustained truckloading was still pretty bad, lots of blood, needed stitches, permanent loss of mobility in that finger, scarring.
And I still have that finger.
I probably would not, if I hadn’t been wearing gloves.
So this month, wear the safety equipment. Take some extra care.
In the Global North, it will be cold a lot of places, wear gloves. Or mittens. Keep the appendages warm.
These gloves look ratty. Stitching is coming off, holes are forming, and it’s because they’ve been well used. They’ve done their job and done it well over many years. This photo shoot was one of the last things this pair of gloves did, I now have a new pair.
Also in December, when we see things or people who are looking rough and ratty, can we wonder about all the work it took for them to get that way? Wonder how many things, people, and places they helped along their journey? Observe all the parts of their design that worked, that survived, that are still together and capable despite the wear & tear?
