Trauma Healing Pioneer Opens Enrollment for Annual SMGI® Certification Training
Author of “Life Is Hard And Then You Fly” Offers Six-Month Intensive for Healers and Coaches Ready to Guide Others Through Transformative Inner Journeys
SAUSALITO, CA (February 2026) – Gina Vance, creator of Somatic Mindful Guided Imagery® (SMGI®) and author of the acclaimed new book Life Is Hard And Then You Fly, is now accepting applications for her annual 150-hour certification training beginning March 21, 2026.
The six-month immersive program trains practitioners to guide others through the revolutionary healing method that integrates somatic awareness, parts work, and subconscious exploration. The training meets weekly online through September 2026.
“SMGI® is a special kind of parts-work hypnosis that resolves trauma and grows success with the power of the subconscious,” says Vance. “I guide people inward to work it out, so they can break free of what burdens them and turn pain into power.”
A Method Born from Personal Transformation
Vance developed SMGI® over two decades of clinical practice, drawing from her own healing journey and work with thousands of clients. The method synthesizes elements of guided imagery, somatic exploration, hypnotherapy, and shamanic practices into an elegant, intuitive protocol that honors the body’s wisdom and the imagination’s intelligence.
Dr. Martin L. Rossman, physician and co-founder of the Academy for Guided Imagery, wrote in his foreword to Vance’s book: “From the beginning, she stood out, not just because of her intelligence or compassion, but because of the quiet force of her presence. Even then, there was a sense that she was on a mission: to heal, yes, but also to understand.”
What Students Experience
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Leila Samrad, who credits SMGI® with transforming her own life, describes the method’s impact: “I was 43 and had been seeing therapists and healers of all varieties since my early 20s. While many things helped me a bit over time, working with Gina shifted the stuckness in me quickly and effortlessly.”
Training participants report profound personal transformation alongside professional skill development. Sanjeev Balarajan, MA Psychology and Internal Family Systems practitioner, notes: “Through my schooling in psychology, I realized that SMGI® ties together all of the components of what is currently the state of knowledge in trauma treatment in a simple and elegant manner. Plus there are things included in SMGI® that mainstream trauma treatment does not know about or is not yet talking about.”
For Healers Ready to Unfurl Hidden Wings
The training welcomes licensed therapists, coaches, bodyworkers, energy healers, and others called to help people access their innate healing power. The program includes weekly live sessions, pre-recorded video tutorials, downloadable guidelines, extensive practicum experience, and business-building support.
Vance’s approach reflects what she describes as helping people “unfurl the hidden wings of the heart, freeing beauty, value, and creativity to flow. In a space of ease, humor, and non-judgment, I lead transformative inner journeys that dissolve obstacles, awaken self-love, and expand freedom.”
