We have fully entered Autumn in the Global North, Spring in the Global South.

I start shifting my attention towards year’s end while simultaneously preparing to begin my masters study. Ahhh… the juxtapositions that are a constant companion of life.

As a witch, I celebrate Samhain as my New Year, and this has been a huge year. I have a lot to reflect on.

Our Jewish kith and kin just passed their New Year, rung in as the New Moon, partial eclipse, and Equinox passed. A potent weekend for bringing balance, crossing the threshold into a new season or new year. Bringing to light and alignment, ease & challenges, light and dark, sun and Moon. Diwali was also recently celebrated for our Indian and Hindu and Nepalese communities. Happy New Year.

It’s interesting how things shift and flow both in life and the cards. What’s noticed, what’s not.

Here, no one – including myself – noticed that the card shared last month, Sound Room had initially been pulled for October. When I did realize, I paused. Found my center, and felt into whether that was the card b.e.s.t. to share with The Edge community. Or if I’d made a mistake I needed to repair.

Sound Room felt correct for September. I’d love to hear where it lands for you. For October, The Theatre Oracle gives us:

Ventilating

Tarot forecast with Kate Mura - ventilating card

Maybe some of y’all will want to take this up literally, learn a new skill. Or are there some wig makers here??? Ventilating is like latch hook, except with hair, super small hooks, and fine lace.

Maybe you’ll want to take up a different craft – I have a sleeve crochet project to start once I’m settled into my new apartment in the UK.

Crochet hooks. Latch hooks. Ventilating needles. They’re all the same general design in vastly different sizes and thicknesses.

This month, maybe there are more similarities between different parties than we realize upon first looks. Maybe we need to take some time to look a little more carefully, more specifically.

In this picture I’m pinning down my pattern to the headblock to ventilate a moustache. Then I’ll lay down my lace, taking care to notice which way the holes line up so I have the stretch in the direction I desire.

Take the time to do the preparatory work correctly. It may use more time than you desire, but it is worth it in the end (honestly, that’s a message I needed to remember last month!)

My eye is also drawn to the phases of the moon on my t-shirt.

Thinking about how everything has cycles… all creative projects have beginnings, middles, and ends that lead to new beginnings.

This is a beginning project – ventilating a new moustache – happening in a month with both new beginnings and endings.

She’s also really focused on her work. There are a lot of other things out on the counter in front of her – open wig box with wig inside, phone, brush, tin the ventilating needles and small pieces of lace are kept in – but none of those distractions are taking her energy.

So in October, let’s focus intently on the task at hand, minimize distractions, and enjoy making something we don’t make all the time or doing something we don’t do all the time.

Tarot is one of those helpful, you are not alone, tools and I love reading for The Edge community members. Scheduling link is here and below.
