There are moments in life when words simply fall short.
A single diagnosis or incident can rewrite your world in an instant. The future you envisioned vanishes, replaced by daunting questions you never thought you would have to answer. When someone we love receives devastating news, we struggle to find words that offer real comfort. When we face severe loss ourselves, even those closest to us can find it hard to truly understand our pain. Sometimes, all we can do is sit with the uncertainty and attempt to make sense of a world that feels completely in chaos.
It was this profound truth that birthed Letting Go! – an original 40-minute musical composition I had the honor of creating alongside talented composer Jeremy Thompson.
The story behind this piece began with an unexpected request from an ALS foundation on the East Coast of the United States. They reached out with what sounded like a simple question: Could I create a piece of music to help people facing ALS?
When I first received that invitation, I was humbled – and I was scared.
Who was I to create music to help such a dire diagnosis? How do you compose something for someone facing amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurological disease that strips away muscle function and brings immense emotional weight? How do you offer genuine comfort without minimizing the sheer horror and grief of that experience? How can music possibly help when there are no easy medical answers?

I wrestled with those doubts until a shift happened inside me. I realized that I wasn’t meant to shy away from this – I was actually the perfect person to help.
I invented the Harmonic Egg® out of a deep, driving passion to help people balance their nervous systems so their bodies can heal naturally. Through years of working with sound and light therapy, I have witnessed the extraordinary ways sound waves interact with human systems, organs, chakra, energy and emotions. I knew the power of sound wasn’t just theoretical; it was an active force for restoration.
Furthermore, I knew something fundamental about human sound processing that most of the music industry ignores: the nervous system hates compressed audio files like MP3s.
When audio is compressed into an MP3, crucial frequencies are chopped away to make the file size smaller. Your brain and nervous system have to work overtime to fill in those missing sonic gaps, creating subconscious stress – the exact opposite of healing. That is why I only release lossless / uncompressed audio files. If we were going to create a piece of music to support people through one of the most intense, fear-inducing experiences imaginable, it had to be completely pure so the nervous system could rest, open up, and release.
That realization became the birth of Letting Go!.
While the original spark came from an ALS foundation, the intention quickly expanded into something much larger. We realized this piece wasn’t just for ALS; it was for anyone dealing with grief. Grief over the loss of a partnership, a career, or a loved one. Grief over what you see happening in the world and desperately wish you could change. Grief as your body betrays you with age or illness.
Grief is a universal human experience, and Letting Go! was created to be a powerful, transformative bridge through it.
When a Request Becomes a Sacred Intention
I knew the creation of this song could not be approached casually. ALS is an overwhelming condition for both the individual and their loved ones. A diagnosis can make the future feel terrifying overnight. Fear, anger, sadness, and isolating confusion settle in rapidly.
I kept thinking about that exact moment when someone hears the diagnosis and the terror sets in. The mind races into the future, cataloging everything that might be lost. The life you knew suddenly feels paper-thin.
I wanted to see if music could meet people right in that dark moment. Not to make empty promises. Not to pretend a piece of music can undo a physical diagnosis. And certainly not to tell anyone how they “should” feel. Instead, I wanted to create a musical sanctuary that acknowledged the emotional journey itself – meeting people in their fear and gently guiding them through it.
What if the music started in that place of raw uncertainty, moved through the intense emotions of grief, and gradually opened a doorway toward acceptance, hope, and gratitude? What if listeners could give themselves permission to feel whatever they needed to feel, without judgment, while making space for healing?
To bring this vision into reality, I needed the right musical collaborator. That led me to Jeremy Thompson. Jeremy is a gifted composer, but more than that, he possessed a deeply personal understanding of this specific pain: he had lost a family member to ALS.
For Jeremy, this wasn’t an abstract assignment. He knew the heavy reality behind the diagnosis. He knew the real people, the families, the memories, and the heartbreak. Together, blending my background in sound frequency and nervous system regulation with his musical mastery and personal empathy, we set out to build Letting Go!.
Two Perspectives, One Shared Vision
Creating music centered around grief demands immense sensitivity. Grief doesn’t follow a neat schedule, and no two people experience it the same way.
Through my work with the Harmonic Egg®, I have spent years studying how sound frequencies interact with the autonomic nervous system. The Harmonic Egg® uses a custom-designed, resonant chamber that integrates sacred geometry, light, and uncompressed sound to shift the body out of a “fight-or-flight” sympathetic state and into a “rest-and-digest” parasympathetic state. When the nervous system lowers its defenses, emotional blockages can soften, and the body’s innate healing capacity turns on.
Music reaches us in places words cannot touch. A subtle frequency shift can ease tension in the chest. A gentle melodic movement can invite a held breath to finally release. A soaring crescendo can allow buried tears to fall.
Jeremy brought his rich musical artistry and personal loss, while I brought the energetic blueprint and frequency intention. Over several months, we constructed a masterpiece – an ambitious 40-minute orchestral composition combining a full symphony orchestra, choir, crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, ambient percussion, and immersive soundscapes.
Yet, the magic of Letting Go! was never about how many instruments we used. It was about the emotional journey.
We engineered the music to hold space for the heaviness of grief while gently tilting the listener toward transformation. We wanted to validate sadness without leaving anyone trapped in it. Most importantly, we wanted to remind every listener that even when life changes in ways we would never choose, peace, connection, and hope are still possible.
A Musical Journey Through the Stages of Grief
As we shaped the piece, Jeremy and I anchored the composition around the five stages of grief popularized by psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance.
However, anyone who has walked through fire knows that grief is never a straight line. You don’t neatly finish “Anger” and move on to “Bargaining.” You might feel fine one morning, be hit by a wave of anger by noon, and plunge into deep depression by evening. Grief is non-linear, messy, and deeply personal.
We did not design Letting Go! as a rigid checklist. It is an invitation to feel.
The composition unfolds across six distinct movements, mapping out an emotional arc that moves from shock to profound transformation.
It allows you to carry your story in a way that leaves room for peace, hope, and love once again.
Why the Nervous System Needs Lossless / Uncompressed Audio
To understand why Harmonic Egg® music is so effective, you have to understand how sound impacts the human body.
Your nervous system is constantly listening, sweeping your environment for safety or threat. Sound frequencies directly stimulate the vagus nerve, which runs from your brainstem down through your heart, lungs, and digestive tract. When sound frequencies are harmonious and full, your vagus nerve signals safety to your body, lowering heart rate, reducing cortisol, and easing tension.
This is where mainstream music delivery fails us.
Most digital music today is distributed as MP3s or heavily compressed streaming files. To make file sizes small enough for fast downloading and cheaper server storage, algorithms strip out up to 90% of the original audio data! They remove high and low frequencies that the human ear allegedly “can’t hear.”
But your body feels those missing frequencies.
When you listen to an MP3, your brain has to constantly work behind the scenes to reconstruct the missing sonic information. This micro-strain keeps your nervous system in a subtle, persistent state of alertness. If you are already dealing with a life-altering ALS diagnosis, the loss of a loved one, or deep emotional trauma, your nervous system is already overloaded. Compressed audio only adds fuel to that internal stress.
That is why I insist on absolute audio purity.
Every track I release – including Letting Go! – is produced in high-resolution, uncompressed (.WAV format), lossless audio. When you listen to lossless audio, the full spectrum of acoustic energy washes over you. The physical sound waves vibrate through your nervous system without forcing your brain to reconstruct missing pieces. This allows your autonomic nervous system to instantly disarm, dropping out of stress mode so your body can shift its resources toward natural self-healing and emotional processing.
This uncompromising commitment to frequency purity is the foundational philosophy behind the Harmonic Egg® and the Harmonic Egg Music App.
Grief Takes Many Forms
While Letting Go! was born from a request to help those facing ALS, its therapeutic reach is far broader. Grief is not reserved solely for death; loss wears many faces.
You may be experiencing grief from:
- The Loss of a Relationship: The ending of a marriage, a long-term partnership, or a cherished friendship that leaves a hollow space in your daily life.
- Health and Aging: Watching your body change, losing physical abilities, dealing with chronic illness, or grieving the youthful energy you used to take for granted.
- Career and Identity Transitions: Facing job loss, retirement, or the collapse of a business venture into which you poured your heart and soul.
- World Sorrow: The heavy weight of looking at global turmoil, conflict, and societal division, wishing with all your heart that the world was more loving and kind.
- Unfulfilled Dreams: Grieving the life you thought you would have, the children you couldn’t have, or the paths you didn’t get to walk.
Grief is simply love with nowhere to go. It is the natural response to change, and it deserves to be honored.
You don’t need to put on a brave face. You don’t need to apologize for your tears, nor do you need to explain your pain to anyone else. Sometimes, the most heroic thing you can do is sit down, press play, close your eyes, and allow a piece of music to hold you while you release what no longer serves you.
The True Meaning of Letting Go
The title Letting Go! carries a powerful message, but it is often misunderstood.
Many people think “letting go” means forgetting. They assume it means moving on, wiping the slate clean, or pretending something terrible didn’t happen. That is not what letting go means to me, nor is it what this music represents.
Letting go is not about forgetting; it is about finding a gentler way to carry what matters.
It means letting go of the exhausting pressure to appear strong when you are breaking inside. It means letting go of the desperate wish that the past could be rewritten. It means letting go of the fight against what is, so you can preserve your energy for what can be.
When you listen to Letting Go!, you might find that grief and gratitude begin to exist side by side. You can miss someone terribly while simultaneously feeling overwhelming gratitude for the time you shared. You can feel afraid of a health diagnosis while still finding moments of beauty, joy, and deep connection in the present moment.
Hope does not require you to deny your pain. Finding joy again does not disrespect what you have lost. You are allowed to hold both at the same time.
