We Can’t Lose

367

We sit again in this honky-tonk,
The lights are good and low.
Outside the sun shines,
You say I told you so.
But if we’re in here
We’re not out there,
And here is where I choose.
We can’t win but we can’t lose.

I tried to make some money once,
But money’s hard to make.
I’d rather just enjoy your eyes,
And one for old time’s sake.
Along the way
Your hair went gray,
And beautiful on you.
We can’t win but we can’t lose.

So put a quarter in that jukebox,
And have a dance with me
We only have us I guess,
And us was always free.
The house is gone,
There’s nothing left,
But nothing is more true,
We can’t win but we can’t lose.
