Living in the world automatically means we will have problems. So the question arises: Is there some way we can live life with fewer problems, or at least be able to deal with our problems more easily?
There are two things you need to make your life easier and happier – peace and power. If you are one of those driven businessmen who are always busy taking over other companies, you have power but no peace. If you are a sadhu in India walking around half-naked with nothing, you have peace but no power. It is a unique human being who is truly peaceful, and to find a human being who is peaceful and powerful is rare indeed.
Power means you are able to fulfill your dreams and ambitions, and peace means you can do that with a tranquil mind and open heart.
The reason why you are not peaceful and powerful is due to one single cause: You are not connected to the Inner Light within you. It’s as simple as that. The Inner Light is that part of you which is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent, the real you who was created “in the image and likeness of God.”
Over the last 2,000 years, Christians have understood that phrase to mean that the male was created in the image and likeness of God and the female was a secondary creation. That is how badly it has been interpreted! What it really means is just what it says: Human beings were created in the image and likeness of God. God is omnipotent, omniscient, all-loving. So you are also omnipotent, omniscient, all-loving. However, you don’t experience those qualities because you are not tuned in to your inner reality. And the important question is: why not?
When you were born you acquired a physical body, which is like a lead wall, so dense in vibration that it literally shuts out the inner reality and completely limits your consciousness. Then, of course, you don’t feel that you are in the image and likeness of God because you have lost connection with your real source, the Light that you are. The Light is the Divine Intelligence, the Creative Word, the Sounding-Light Vibration – the tremendous power of the Deity that vibrates throughout the Cosmos as Infinite Light and Infinite Sound.
Symbolically, the average human being is far away from the Light – not because the Light has gone away; rather, our attention has moved away due to our entanglement in the world. There is nothing necessarily bad or wrong with that – this is not a judgment on worldly people. It is perfectly correct for you to be active in the world. More correctly, though, you are supposed to be here with the total you: your body, emotions, mind, Soul, spirit and God-Self.
The more entangled we are in the world, the more the world sucks away our desire to become that which we really are.
What I am explaining is not Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish or Taoist – it is just human. You can leave orthodox religions alone because over the centuries ignorant minds have warped the Truth. Similarly, science cannot give us the final answers because it is a limited knowledge field that only touches the surface of the Cosmos. You need to listen to somebody who has experienced the Truth, because they are the ones who can put you in the right direction. And the right direction is very simple: Learn how to gather your consciousness away from the world, turn it inward and connect to the Light within yourself.
Firstly, realize that the tremendous power of the Creative Word is already resonating inside you and all around you; otherwise you wouldn’t be here. It created you and maintains you on all levels. You are already a manifestation of the Deity. The Christians say that Jesus was “the son of God.” Well, He was not THE son of the Father, but A son of the Father. We are all children of the Deity.
To develop power, we need a bridge to the Light, so we use Sound in the form of Mantra. In Sanskrit, Mantra means, “something that directs the mind.” So when using Mantra, you’re using Sound to direct your mind to the Light.
Mantra gives you power, the ability to live your life to the full, because it invokes a certain frequency of the Divine Light that comes down and renews and re-energizes you. You will become happier and more loving, and you will have more power to do things. We all have that power within us – it’s a divine power – but it has to be awakened. God wants us to be happy and powerful, simply because God is happy and powerful.
Remember: We are made in the image and likeness of God, and like God, we can be omnipotent and omniscient. What else could you want?
The Divine Consciousness is eternally renewing Itself. God is ever-new Joy, ever-new Power, ever-new Manifestation; never static and never ancient. That’s why you must not touch ancient religions in their ancient forms – unless you can regenerate those religions. The old material is not wrong; it’s just outdated, which means it no longer gels with the vibration of today.
The new realization is that the way of spiritual life is being in the world but with that connection to the Deity within you. That is what will help transform the world into the Kingdom of God here on Earth: “Thy Kingdom come on Earth as it is in Heaven.” Remember, the Bible translators used the word Heaven because they had no other words for the higher realities. The original meaning was: Let this Earth turn into the same powerful expression as that of the highest spiritual dimensions. Let those worlds of Light – full of Love, Bliss and Power – be here on this Earth. That is what Christ was trying to tell His disciples: Be in the world but not of the world.
Being “of the world” means believing only in matter and worldly power. But being “in the world” means that you stand in your Light, in the power of God within you, and are actively working to transform this world into part of the Kingdom of God, because it is meant to be by Divine Will. That was the desire of the Christ, the Buddha and all the great prophets in every country since the beginning of time – to make this world part of a continuum from Nirvana all the way down to the Physical World. And only human beings can do that.
Believe it or not, this can be a wonderful place without wars or troubles, and everyone can be more loving and peaceful. We can invent all these amazing gadgets to play with nowadays, but what if the real power comes to us, the power of consciousness itself? Imagine how society will change when there are millions of people who literally see God face to face, as the Angels do now. When we all become divine, we will transform this planet into something so amazing, with much more harmony, love and power than we can even imagine now.
